Earlier this week, we saw the Victoria’s Secret angels strut their way down the runway in a show that can only be described as glamorous. But there was one angel in particular who stole the limelight as she opened the show nine months pregnant! Jasmine Tookes, aka Victoria’s Secret’s IT girl. A Stylists Daughter:
Jasmine Tookes is the eldest daughter of celebrity stylist and costume designer Cary Robinson. After landing an intern position for a famous stylist, Robinson got her break into the industry and has been responsible for styling VS angels such as Josephine Skriver, Lais Ribeiro, and, of course, her daughter, according to fashion publication Stylectory.
Scouted On The Job:
Tookes was first discovered at the age of 15 when she was on a photoshoot set with her celebrity stylist mother in 2010. After starting with commercial modeling shoots for brands such as GAP and Ugg, it was only a year later, in 2011, that Tookes would move on to do higher-end brands, such as DKNY and even a spread for Italian Vogue, according to The Cut.
Victoria’s Secret Angel:
Finally, in 2012, Tookes’ dreams of becoming a Victoria’s Secret model came true as she was cast for the runway, according to Teen Vogue. However, it wouldn’t be until 2015 that Tookes would first receive her Angel wings.
Chosen To Wear Fantasy Bra:
In 2016, Tookes became the third Black model to be chosen to wear the Victoria’s Secret fantasy bra, an honor for any VS Angel. Previously, the only Black woman who had worn the fantasy bra was Tyra Banks in 1997 and 2004, and Selita Ebanks, who wore it in 2004, per Teen Vogue.
Family Life:
Tookes is married to Snapchat executive Juan David Borrero, whom she married in 2021. They first met in 2016 at a dinner. It was love at first sight, and the pair have been together ever since, taking a trip every year to celebrate their anniversary, according to Vogue.
Fabulous Wedding:
The couple had a fabulous location wedding in Ecuador, and Tookes wore a custom Zuhair Murad dress with a train that was 15 feet long, per Vogue. In a TikTok reflecting on her wedding, Tookes gave her number one tip for future brides: “Step aside with your partner, take a moment and look around… Everything moves so fast on a wedding day, so those are the moments I remember with my husband.”
Soon-To-Be Mom of Two:
Tookes is already a mom to Mia Victoria, the two-year-old daughter she shares with her husband, Juan David Borrero. This time around, the couple is expecting their first baby boy, according to PEOPLE.
Boss Lady:
Alongside private equity investor Sabrina Castenfelt, Tookes co-founded the beauty brand Brunel, a body oil company that focuses on wellness and mindfulness. It was launched this year, according to PEOPLE.
Glamour Runs in The Family:
Jasmine Tookes is not the only model in her family; her little sister, Chloe Danielle, is also in the industry and has even appeared beside her big sis in commercial campaigns for J.Crew, according to Teen Vogue.
