Politics in this country may be in a crazy place right now, but Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) has a lot to be thankful for this year. The New Jersey Senator and his fiancée Alexis Lewis tied the knot on Nov. 24 at a courthouse in Newark, followed by more formal “I dos” at a private ceremony in Washington, D.C. on Nov. 29.

Booker and Lewis shared the news in a joint Instagram post on Nov. 30.
“Overflowing with gratitude. We said “I do” in two places that shaped us—Cory’s beloved Newark and Alexis’s hometown of Washington, D.C.—first at the courthouse, then with our families. Hearts full and so grateful,” they captioned the post.

Who is Alexis Lewis?
The 56-year-old Booker was introduced to his 38-year-old bride by a mutual friend in May 2024. The couple had their first blind date in the nation’s capital while Lewis, a D.C. native, was visiting family. Their connection was almost instant, as they announced their engagement on social media in September 2025.
“Alexis is one of the greatest unearned blessings of my life. She has transformed me, helping me to ground and center my inner life, and discover the joys of building a nurturing home with someone you love,” Booker wrote in a Sept. 2 Instagram post. “I’m thrilled to share: Alexis and I are engaged!”
Lewis who earned a bachelor’s degree at N.Y.U. and an M.B.A. at Cornell University is the director of investments at Los Angeles real estate investment firm Brasa Capital Management.
The couple had an interfaith wedding ceremony, which included a rabbi and a pastor, as Lewis, is Jewish.

Congratulatory posts poured in from celebrities, including Wanda Sykes, Deborah Roberts, D-Nice and Jamal Bryant.
“Congratulations to the Bookers! May GOD continue to live in the center of your relationship! I pray for His grace, mercy and favor over your lives,” wrote New Edition’s Ronnie DeVoe on Instagram.
Some online couldn’t help but point out that the new Mrs. Booker bears a striking resemblance to actress Rosario Dawson, whom Booker dated from 2019 to 2022.
“He got a type,” wrote someone on X.
Other skeptical commenters thought the ceremony was less about romance and more about Booker’s political aspirations.
“Things politicians do to help their polling numbers,” wrote someone on X.
But Booker says his heart is full, telling The New York Times that though his father, who passed away in 2013 would never get to meet his bride, he knows that he would have loved her as much as he does.
“Alexis is exactly the kind of woman my dad would have wanted for me. I often joke with her that she and my father have so much in common, and that he must be smiling — and laughing — in heaven,” he said.
