With racism still alive and well, Black folks are counting on other ethnic groups to call out racists at every turn. Now, one white man on TikTok is going viral after he broke down the best way to combat any and every racist.

@howelsmovingco explained that dealing with a racist is actually more simple than people think. “There’s nobody that backpedals faster than a racist, who realizes that they can’t be racist with you,” he began on TikTok. According to him, in many cases, racists rely on other white people to egg on their hatred. But that’s when pulling an unthinkable move comes into play.
“Typically, they’re expecting three reactions,” the user continued. “One is that you’re going to agree with them.. two, that you’re just not gonna say anything… or three, you’re going to argue with them.” The TikToker said, however, you have to pick a fourth option that the racists usually never expect.
@howelsmovingco went on to tell the story of a racist man who came into his job one day. The man came up to the TikToker and asked for a Band-Aid… but demanded it not be “one of those woke, black Band-Aids.” The racist, who according to the TikToker was just looking for attention and camaraderie, received neither. Instead, the user hit the man with one question that stunned him.
“Why would a black Band-Aid be woke,” the TikToker reportedly asked the man. “Why do you care if Black people have Band-Aids?” The “woke” Band-Aids in question refers to the brand’s revamped “OurTone” bandage rollout which began in 2021 after the national push towards DEI and the 2020 Black Lives Matter protests, according to CBS News. They were designed to “embrace the beauty of diverse skin tones,” the Johnson & Johnson company said. But clearly, some folks took issues with the product.
“I don’t know. Everybody’s just so soft. They can’t have their own Band-Aids,” the racist allegedly told the TikToker. That’s when the user said he noticed the man getting flustered. The key is to just question the legitimacy of their racist statements until they realize for themselves how unnecessary the hatred is.
The TikToker continued, “That’s really all it takes. If you don’t give a reaction and just start questioning the idiocracy of their statements, they immediately backpedal.”
Folks online reacted to the video, which now has over 359,000 views and 90,000 likes. “Racism deeply confuses me because what is genuinely is the problem,” @ajcn__ responded.
“Don’t act angry, act disappointed,” @damiendotjpg wrote. “Do your best disappointed parent impression. ‘Oh.. well that’s a shame. I really thought you were better than that.’”
