Hey, everyone, wouldn’t it be fun to paint your face brown with chocolate just to see how you’d look with a different complexion? Well, technically not everyone ... just the white everyones. That’s exactly the novel concept a Portland, Ore., beauty blogger came up with, and now she probably wishes she hadn’t.

The blogger, Vika Shapel, took to YouTube to encourage others to transfer their “pasty pale” skin to “deep chocolate.”
“Something fun is coming to YouTube, idk if there is a challenge like this but we haven’t seen it so I’m calling it the chocolate challenge! Come watch us transform into deep chocolate skin tones from our pasty pale,” she wrote.
Of course, the blowback was swift, and in an interview with Yahoo! Beauty, she apologized for her “mistake.”
“I simply wanted to see how I looked in a deeper skin tone,” Shapel said. “I wasn’t aware of the whole blackface concept before people began commenting it on the photo. I would like to apologize to people that were hurt or offended by my post, and it won’t happen again.”
