As families across America buckle down in preparation for looming cuts to SNAP benefits ahead of the holidays, the silence from celebrities — especially our favorite Black ones — is deafening. The same entertainers who’ve become global symbols of resistance and liberation, now sit at the helm of million-dollar empires while an entire generation of Black parents wonder how they’ll feed their kids next month. Fans are left asking the hard question: why aren’t Black celebs doing anything about the millions of Black folks who won’t be able to feed their kids soon?

One TikToker in particular completely crashed out on camera, and to be honest her tears (yes, tears) are totally valid. According to her, celebs do not care about our wellbeing, dragging celebs from Cardi B to Kim Kardashian for pushing meaningless products and repetitive music during trying times. Her message to viewers? Starve them, because they are starving us.
“Where are the celebrities?” the content creator exclaimed. “Where are the mothers? Where is Kim Kardashian? Where is Cardi B?”
“40 million people are about to lose their food assistance and they do not care! Because they’re part of the system!” she exclaimed. “WAKE UP! Nobody needs SKIMS when they’re actually skin and bones. Nobody needs 12 albums with the same music! Wake up, they don’t care. They want you to starve. Starve them!
“Do not buy their stuff, they want children to starve!” she doubled down.
Mind you, this creator isn’t the only one upset, but it seems everyone is dealing with the matter in their own way. And as expected, folks on social media sounded off with everything from “Men feed your children” to speculation that folks are going to be “robbing people walking out the grocery store.”
As Donald Trump’s administration toys with yet another government shutdown, millions of Americans — disproportionately Black families — are caught in the crossfire. SNAP cuts aren’t just numbers on a budget sheet, they’re the difference between children eating or going hungry. And until those with the biggest platforms use their voices for something more than profit, the gap between Black wealth and Black survival will only grow wider.
