It’s been over a year since Atlanta District Attorney Fani Willis’ racketeering case against President Donald Trump completely fell apart. Now, Willis is being formally investigated over her allegedly mishandling of the historic trial, but she’s clearly not going down without a fight.

On Wednesday (Dec. 17), the Fulton County DA appeared before the Georgia Senate committee dressed in a white, fur overcoat paired with an expensive Louis Vuitton bag. She testified about the 2020 election case and her allegedly inappropriate relationship with the lead prosecutor, which ultimately imploded the entire case.
We previously told you President Trump was indicted in 2023 for his alleged role in an election interference scandal. The 98-page indictment accused Trump of conspiring to undermine election results. At the time, the president had already been accused of interfering with elections in several states.
Willis told the committee on Wednesday that she has no regrets after trying the bring the president to justice. “I took an oath to do the right thing. People came into my community and committed a crime and I indicted them, and rest assured, if someone else comes in my community and commits a crime, I will indict them again,” she said.
The high profile took a turn when Willis’ relationship with special prosecutor Nathan Wade was uncovered. Wade forcefully withdrew from the case in March 2024, and Trump’s legal team set off a flurry of appeals ultimately leading to his charges being dismissed, PBS reported.
Willis answered questions about Wade on Wednesday, but according to her, this was just a waste of time. At one point in the questioning, Willis’ microphone was even muted when when she testified beyond the question she was asked.
“Let me tell you why this is such a damn joke,” Willis told the committee. “Why don’t you investigate how many times my house has been swatted?” She added, “Why don’t you investigate how many times they’ve called me the N-word?”
Willis has reported death threats an other threatening messages targeted at her while trying the case against Trump, according to the Justice Department. According to Willis’ attorney, former Gov. Roy Barnes, the Senate committee is now going on a “witch hunt” by interrogating Willis instead of going after the original defendant, President Trump.
“You think you can intimidate me, but I’m not [Ga. Rep.] Marjorie Taylor Greene. I’m not gonna quit in a month because somebody threatened me,” Willis said referring to Rep. Greene’s shocking resignation. “This country needs leaders, not cowards.”
The committee doesn’t have the power to sanction Willis, who was reelected just last year. Instead the nine-person committee only has the ability to change Georgia’s laws and create new ones.
Wednesday was the second time Willis had to testify under oath about her romantic relationship with Wade. Back in 2024, the district attorney was criticized for her fiery responses during her testimony. In 2025, she’s under the same scrutiny.
“I still cant believe Fani Willis had the audacity to show up like this, then claim it was racist for the GA Senate to investigate her use of tax payer funds,” former Trump staffer Harrison William Prescott Floyd III said on X.
“She is losing it,” @ThePatriotOasis tweeted. “That attitude is NOT going to help her. The ARROGANCE!”
Still, many people like @yourlittldogtwo are supporting her. “I love that Fani Willis stands on business every single time and refuses to let anyone roll over her. She stays ready to swing,” they wrote.
