Blueface just posted a tweet that made my jaw hit the floor. Mr. “Thotiana” told his mom that they “could never have sex.”

Pause. I had to take a breath.
I wondered what the hell dude was getting at. Then I kept reading and it became clear what motivated him to post something so inflammatory.
“Stop being so invested in the women I’m laying down with,” he tweeted. “It’s kinda weird…”
This is not something Mr. Bleedem should have tweeted for the world to see. Family business is not for the world to know, so this should have just been a text. That very important point aside, (And I can’t believe I’m about to say this.) I see where he is coming from.
We’ve written about this before, but it needs to be said again: Many Black women are raising their sons to be mama’s boys. Ever wonder why a man is 30 and still living in his mother’s house? It’s probably because he was raised to be overly dependent on the woman who brought him into the world.
Black mothers have a history of coddling their sons, and it makes sense why. Almost 50% of Black mothers are raising their sons alone. So, it is understandable why some of these women raise their sons in such a way that the boy grows to be codependent with the mother. After all, it’s hard raising Black men alone in America.
With this understanding, I see what Blueface is trying to say. He is inelegant, but his message is simple. Blueface does not want his mother involved in his relationships with other women.
Now, to be honest, Blueface does not have a history of making great decisions when it comes to his love life. But him saying that his mother should fall back and not sabotage his relationships? I get that.
If you let them, Black mothers will meddle in their son’s romantic relationships. It is not out of hate or spite; it is out of love. But the damage can still be massive.
Black men have a right to date whoever they want. And just because their mothers may not like the women they choose does not give them the right to insert themselves in the relationship.
This is what Blueface was trying to say. He just chose the most incendiary way to say it. But even if he is utterly ridiculous for saying it the way he did, that doesn’t mean he wasn’t right.
