Things are unfortunately not looking too good for Wendy Williams, specifically as it relates to her fight to end her guardianship. The latest update has just hit the fan and trust us when we say it’s news none of us wanted to hear.

Per legal documents obtained by PEOPLE, it alleges that Williams recently underwent another round of medical evaluations to assess whether or not she was still suffering from frontotemporal dementia and aphasia. As we previously told you, that diagnosis is the basis for which her court appointed guardianship. Earlier in the week, there were reports that the former daytime talk show host had completed some more tests and that medical specialists had “formed an opinion concerning [Wendy’s] current neurological condition and diagnosis.” However, the results weren’t known at the time.
Now, according to PEOPLE, it appears Williams has failed her evaluations. The documents allege that she underwent “significant number of tests (both medical and neuropsychological) and scans (including brain imaging)” and the results were that her original diagnosis of aphasia and dementia still stands. Thusly, this means her guardianship will still be upheld. However, Williams’ guardian Sabrina Morrissey has filed additional paperwork for an extension to see if a judge will allow her to continue to be her guardian or if they will choose to end it all together.
What’s also even more interesting to note is that Williams’ lawyer Joe Tacopina is pushing back on the narrative that his client has dementia and aphasia. Speaking to TMZ shortly after the PEOPLE report went live, he told the outlet that the diagnosis was “false” and is “being spread by a party with a vested interest in keeping Wendy trapped under this excessive and restrictive guardianship.”
Tacopina also noted that neither he nor Williams have seen the report that’s being publicized and later told TMZ, “The critical questions are these: Where is the actual medical report supporting this leak? And who is the doctor willing to go under oath and face cross-examination by me so the truth can be exposed?”
This saga with Williams has truly been a complete rollercoaster, a wild ride that has gone on for far too long. Here’s hoping that things will come to a just end soon.
