While fans may still be upset at the recent news that Wendy Williams allegedly failed her medical evaluation, thus upholding her court-appointed guardianship, Williams’ lawyer Joe Tacopina isn’t buying it. And now, he’s speaking out about it and pointing the finger who he thinks is to blame for this new narrative.

As we previously told you, per legal documents obtained by PEOPLE just one week ago, Williams failed her new evaluations. The documents alleged that she underwent “significant number of tests (both medical and neuropsychological) and scans (including brain imaging)” and the results were that her original diagnosis of aphasia and frontotemporal dementia still stands. Thusly, this meant her guardianship would still be a thing as the diagnosis is one of the major things that its based off of.
However, speaking in an interview with News Nation on Tuesday, Tacopina asserted that neither he nor Williams have even seen the aforementioned report at all. He alleged that Williams hasn’t completed her medical evaluations yet and that the release of her alleged test results were a “leak” and a “disgrace.”
“This so-called medical report, this medical diagnosis we talked about, and that was leaked, illegally leaked. Let me say that about Wendy Williams is a lie,” Tacopina said. “It’s just a lie, and it, the leak itself is a disgrace. It’s not about medicine. It’s about manipulation. It’s a weapon being used by those who profit. I’ll be quite blunt, profit from keeping Wendy under this abuse of guardianship situation.”
Tacopina went on the allege that he knows who was likely responsible for the leak of Williams’ seemingly non-existent report, bluntly pointing at Morrissey as the culprit.
“Let’s call a spade a spade, and I’m not afraid to accept responsibility for my words. Of course, it’s Sabrina Morissey. Of course, it’s the guardian,” Tacopina said.
Additionally, Williams’ lawyer also spoke on her current health condition, revealing that she’s in control of her faculties like anyone else and that, judging by the conversations he has with her nearly everyday, she’s doing great. He went on to say that through the guardianship, her “basic human rights” were being stripped from her.
“Aside from the fact that she doesn’t have her liberties, her freedom, her human dignity that’s been stripped from her, she’s fine as a human being,” Tacopina said. “She’s never missed a beat in our conversations, never, and we’ve talked about some complex things. She understands what’s going on, and she just wants her life back.”
