We See You Whoopi Goldberg, Expanding Weed Business in a Big Away

Actress and talk show host Whoopi Goldberg is a firm believer that taking medicine doesn’t have to be an awful experience. The EGOT winner has long been a staunch supporter of the healing benefits of cannabis, even launching her own brand of products in 2016.

But now, Goldberg is scaling up her weed business in a big way with a major announcement. The View moderator is bringing two brands into the fold under her WhoopFam cannabis company – a family owned and operated business Goldberg runs with her daughter, Alex Martin-Dean, and son-in-law Bernard Dean.

WhoopFam, which advertises “Healing through nature, from our family to yours” on its website is on a mission to provide customers high-quality cannabis products and plans to roll out new product offerings later this month.

Emma & Clyde will offer premium medical and recreational cannabis products and accessories in stores across California, Arizona and Ohio. The biz name is a nod to Goldberg’s late mother and brother. Goldberg writes about their close relationship in her May 2024 memoir “Bits and Pieces: My Mother, My Brother, and Me.”

WhoopFam is also resurrecting Whoopi & Maya, a brand which will offer edibles, topicals and tinctures designed for pain relief. Goldberg originally co-founded the company in 2016 with Om Edibles founder Maya Elisabeth to offer cannabis products formulated for menstrual pain relief. But the company shut down in 2020 due to reported disagreement between the founders.

Goldberg plans to celebrate the launch of the two brands at an exclusive July 20 event in Los Angeles as she hopes to introduce even more customers to the power of the [cannabis] plant.

“Cannabis is probably the greatest medicine on the planet that everybody can have,” Goldberg told Forbes in June. “For people like me, it was always used to stop the [menstrual] cramps – and the side hustle of that is that it was fun, it made you laugh and stuff.”
