A now-viral video of a confrontation between a husband and wife over a cell phone has been making the rounds online, and it has Black people engaged in a heated debate about trust in marriage and whether or not couples should be entitled to keep the contents of their electronic devices to themselves.

The video shows a wife locked in her car after her husband forgot his cell phone inside. The husband, desperate to get the phone before his wife has a chance to go through it, broke the car’s back window in an attempt to climb through and take it back (all while telling her she’s doing too much, we should add). What happens next should surprise no one, as he manages to cut his hand as he sticks it through the broken glass to grab his phone.
“Imagine being married, and your husband forgets his phone in your car, and you lock yourself in the car to go through his phone and this is what he does. Obviously he’s hiding something,” the post is captioned.

The clip has received over 270,000 likes and thousands of comments from viewers warning that the wife probably doesn’t want to know what her man is hiding.
“It’s boys in that phone for sure 😳 when they that extreme it’s boys or kids for sure,” wrote someone in the comments
Another commenter joked that the information on the husband’s phone must be part of a national political scandal for him to go to those lengths to get it back.
“He must have that Epstein file in there 😩,” wrote someone.
Of course, Black TikTok wasted no time giving their opinions on the situation.
“What type of sh*t could you have on your phone to Hulk smash the back of the window of your family car?” asks TikToker @thedominiquemorgan.
But she says she would have been more concerned about her car than trying to catch her husband doing dirt.
“That n* would have his phone back immediately and then he would have a divorce, on my soul,” she added. “He gone have to fix that window too. A back window of a car in this economy with these tariffs?”
TikToker @UncleD added his two cents to the conversation, arguing that the incident stems from a deeper problem in the couple’s relationship – a lack of trust, which he believes should have been a red flag that their marriage had no chance from the start.
“Why are you married? There is no trust in that relationship at all. Because I don’t understand why you have to go through your husband’s phone,” he said in a post. “And dude, you break into your car to get your phone, that means you’re doing something.”
But our favorite comment came from someone who suggested that rather than sticking around to get her car damaged the wife should have just burned rubber on her husband and left his cheating ass behind.
“Would have pulled off so fast he would have gotten road rash to the bone,” wrote someone on TikTok.
