The lone victim killed during a peaceful counterprotest against white supremacist hate during the Charlottesville, Va., rally Saturday has been identified as Heather Heyer.
Although police have not officially identified the woman who died in the crash, family and friends of Heyer, a 32-year-old paralegal with the Miller Law Group, have confirmed that she was one of many struck by the driver of a Dodge Challenger who barreled his car at high speeds into the protesters, the New York Daily News reports.

According to the newspaper, Heyer was walking across the street when she was struck.
“One man pumped the Virginia native’s chest and another held an oxygen mask to her face as state police clutched their rifles during the chaotic aftermath of the attack,” the Daily News reports.
Charlottesville Police Chief Alfred Thomas Jr. told the Daily News that Heyer was one of 20 people struck by the man believed to be the driver, 20-year-old James Fields Jr. Fields was apprehended shortly after the crash, taken into custody and charged. Fields had reportedly been witnessed standing alongside the Vanguard America hate group during the rally.
“If you’re not outraged, you’re not paying attention,” Heyer’s last Facebook post read.
“She died doing what was right. My heart is broken, but I am forever proud of her,” Heyer’s childhood friend Felicia Correa, who spoke on behalf of the victim’s mother, told the Daily News.
