She’s Back! Tyra Banks’ Most Memorable Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show Looks

With the supermodel announcing her return for the brand’s 2024 fashion show Oct. 15, we’re looking back at her previous appearances as a VS Angel.

Tyra Banks has been through multiple career evolutions. She’s gone from supermodel, to TV host, to entrepreneur. Now, she’s returning to her roots. On Wednesday, she was joined by fellow model Gigi Hadid in a clip announcing the 2024 return of the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. She dropped a call back to another one of her former projects, using “America’s Next Top Model’s” Tyra Mail to deliver the invite to Hadid.

After the lingerie brand received fierce competition from Rihanna’s Savage x Fenty and made headlines for a lack of diversity and inclusivity, the runway show was paused in 2019. However, it returned with a star-studded lineup in 2023. The 2024 edition is scheduled to take place Oct. 15 in New York City.

As of now, there are no details yet on hosts, performers or models participating. As we wait for more news, we thought it’d be a great time to revisit some of Tyra’s most memorable looks from her time as an Angel in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.

2024: The Big Announcement

Before we get caught up in nostalgia, let’s check in on Tyra and Gigi’s big announcement. We don’t know if either woman will be on the runway for the big show, but Tyra definitely still has the “supermodel turn into a close up” down.

1997: Superstar in the Making

In one of her earliest appearances, Banks put the fashion world on notice that she’d arrived in a stunning red piece.

1998: Pretty Wings

Tyra was one of the rare Victoria’s Secret Angels who was never swallowed up by the massive wings that were often paired with barely there outfits.

1998: Colors, Colors, Everywhere

Yes, there’s a lot happening with this colorful number, but Banks manages to stay in control of the clothes and not get overshadowed by them.

1999: Bejeweled Beauty

It’s hard to look natural in a jeweled bra, and not even Tyra can make this look normal. Which is fine, because she’s not supposed to.

2000: Isn’t Your Robe Feathered?

Of course your robe is a huge, dramatic, white feathered piece. Why would you want the practicality of terrycloth?

2001: Christmas Angel

The theme of the 2001 show was “Christmas Dream and Fantasy.” She certainly epitomized the idea of a Christmas Dream in this snowy white number.

It feels like Tyra was at the peak of her powers in full superhero mode.

If you’re ever wondering what the difference is between a model and a supermodel, you can see it in the way Banks commands every person in the room to stop and obsess over every move she makes.

2003: Simple Elegance

Despite the fact that this essentially a lingerie show, Tyra brings a class and elegance to every outfit.

2003: Valentine’s Day

We don’t know if this was specifically designed for a Valentine’s Day collection, but it’s certainly giving off that vibe.

2004: $10 Million Angel

There was a time when Victoria’s Secret started rolling out increasingly more expensive pieces as the marketing for the show. Tyra wore this $10 million Heavenly Bra in 2004, Other than the over the top craziness, we never understood the point of these bras.

2005: Warrior Princess

The way the media personality presents this piece makes it feel like it belongs in a sci-fi/fantasy world, not a fashion runway.

2005: Black Joy

One of the reasons Tyra was able to make the transition from supermodel to media mogul is that she always seemed like she was having so much fun on the runway, and that drew people in.

2005: Queen of the Rainbow

We’re not sure if she’s supposed to be a queen or a drum major here, but either way, it kind of works.
