After increased pressure from the family and the community for more than two months, local Georgia police have now ruled Bushโs death a homicide and have charged two minors in the case, claiming that they pushed him into the pit where he drowned, according to the Wayne County Sheriffโs Office.
The two suspects in the case are 10 and 11 years old and have both been charged with involuntary manslaughter and simple battery. Due to Georgia law regarding minors, their names cannot be released to the public.
While it was initially reported there was no foul play in Bushโs death after the autopsy, police changed their tune after new information they discovered during their investigation. But in a new twist in the case, the mother of one of the boys accused has now been charged.
More from WSAV-TV:
Natalie Hardison was arrested on 3 charges, including a probation violation and making false statements.
Wayne County Sheriff Chuck Moseley tells News 3 that the charges Hardison faces are not directly connected to Bushโs death or the case against her son.
Noahโs mother, Demetrice Bush, has released a statement, sounding optimistic that an adult was charged, saying, โOur family is grateful that at least one of the adults involved is being prosecuted. Until everyone involved, in any way is held accountable under the law we will not stop fighting for justice. We thank the community for their ongoing support.โ
Adding to her words, Bush family attorney Francys Johnson said, โThe arrest of this childโs mother is another significant step towards full justice for Noahโs family. We knew that something of this magnitude could not have happened and some adults not know about it and be involved.โ
Bail is set for $10,000 for the 11-year-old boy and $5,000 for the 10-year-old boy, according to WSAV.
