Why Black-Owned Businesses Face Bigger Risks in a Global Trade War

‘Barbie’ – Max

What better way to add a dose of female empowerment in your life than with the fun feminist movie about the world’s most famous doll. Get your girls together for a pre-results pep talk.

‘The Franchise’ – Max

If you need an off the wall comedy, this series following the behind the scenes chaos on a big budget superhero franchise movie is a great distraction from real world craziness.

‘How to Die Alone’ – Hulu

Natasha Rothwell is a treasure in this comedy about a woman who tries to change her down-on-her-luck life, but continues to find herself in hilarious situations.

’Parks and Recreation’ – Peacock

If you still want a little politics, but you don’t want all the negativity that goes along with it, binge Seasons 5 and 6 of “Parks and Recreation.” The comedy is simultaneously inspiring and absurd. It’s the perfect real world election alternative.

‘Star Wars’ Franchise – Disney+

Sometimes you just need to know that the good guys will when and the Empire can be defeated. It may take time, but eventually the Death Star is destroyed.

‘Hamilton’ – Disney+

Maybe you want your politics with a side of catchy Broadway musicals. If that’s the case, “Hamilton” not only has spectacular music and a captivating story, it’s so distinctly American.

‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ – Digital Release

If you’re just looking to laugh and completely forget about the chaos of this election cycle, the Marvel action comedy is chock full of Easter eggs, fun cameos and nothing even remotely political.

‘The Boys’ – Prime Video

The current storyline and lead villain Homelander might feel a little too real for some viewers, but “The Boys” could still make for a fascinating diversion from our actual headlines.

‘Megan Thee Stallion: In Her Words’ – Prime Video

With everyone still buzzing about Meg’s documentary, you don’t want to get left out of the loop. Since TV is being monopolized by elections coverage, now is the perfect time to catch up.

If you need your politics sprinkled with dragons and magic, the fantasy universe is always an attention grabbing distraction. Careful, one episode is never enough.

‘Quincy’ – Netflix

‘Lioness’ – Paramount+

For another dose of female empowerment, Zoë Saldaña is a tough CIA station chief in this action drama about women who infiltrate the world’s most dangerous criminal organizations.
