Trump Compares Himself to Jesus, But Conservatives Say Sunny Hostin Is the Dumb One?

Conservatives are piling on 'The View' Hostin for the way Monday's solar eclipse, climate change, earthquakes in NYC, and the Rapture.

Conservatives on social media have been dunking on β€˜The View’ co-host Sunny Hostin for her recent comments about the solar eclipse, earthquakes in NYC, climate change, and the raptureβ€”and how she believes it’s all connected.

Hostin recounted that during the recent earthquake in New York City, her makeup artist fled down the hall, claiming that Jesus was coming! Hostin noted the unusual confluence of events, including the solar eclipse, the swarm of up to a trillion cicadas that would soon be emerging from the earth, and the earthquake.

β€œI will say, all of those things would maybe lead one to believe that either climate change exists or something is really going on,” she said.

Her co-hosts quickly attempted to correct her. β€œEarthquakes are not at the mercy of climate change,” said Joy Behar. β€œIt’s underground.”

Whoopi Goldberg also chimed in, telling Hostin that the cicadas emerge on a multi-year cycle and that in this cycle, separate broods were emerging simultaneously. She also correctly pointed out that the solar eclipse and climate change are not related. However, it is worth noting that scientists have found possible connections between earthquakes and changes in the climate, like long-term droughts.Β

However, conservatives quickly seized on Hostin’s comments online.

β€œIs Sunny Hostin the dumbest person on television? Even Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar are calling this claim nonsense,” posted conservative commentator Brigitte Gabriel.

β€œThere are a lot of smart women in the world. None of them are on The View,” wrote another commenter.

But while the MAGA internet was dunking on Hostin, everyone seemed to forget about the fact that Donald Trump said something arguably much more outlandish just a week prior.

Ahead of Easter, the former President compared himself to Jesus Christ, arguing that the bond for his financial crime was tantamount to Jesus being nailed to the cross. And on Sunday, he compared a gag order placed on his hush-money case to the 27-year political imprisonment of the late South African leader and icon Nelson Mandela.

So, it might not be the best time for die-hard Trump fans to be calling anyone out on their dramatic statements.
