This latest bout of drama stems from an incident that allegedly took place in New York over the weekend. According to photographer Issa Mansoor, who was hired by the owner of the Huntington venue Ivy to capture Songz’s performance and other moments of the night, he alleged that he was assaulted by the “Love Faces” singer after he tried to get one last picture of him. Mansoor claims that Songz began to get agitated after fans kept coming up to him to ask for their own pictures and videos.
Things then went left when the owner of the venue asked Songz to take one last picture next to the logo of the establishment. Songz then allegedly declined and lashed out at Mansoor, punching him in the head, throwing him against the wall and messing up his camera equipment, according to TMZ.
Alleged footage of the ordeal subsequently hit the internet shortly after it happened. Mansoor allegedly suffered a concussion, migraine, and ankle pain due as a result of what happened and filed a police report. The local authorities are now investigating what happened.
In the aftermath of all of this, Songz’s lawyers have denied any wrongdoing on behalf of their client, saying that the press is drumming up these charges and that the incident isn’t exactly what we think it is.
“The media is unfairly turning an unfinished story into clickbait to sell a new headline. That’s lazy and unfair,” the statement began. “What happened at The Ivy was the result of increasingly aggressive paparazzi invading an artist’s personal space, conduct that puts everyone at risk and a trend that’s impacting not just Trey but artists everywhere.”
It concluded: “Trey disputes the characterization of events, is cooperating fully with authorities, and looks forward to the facts, not speculation, speaking for themselves.”
