Tracee Ellis Ross Breaks Down How Barack Obama Failed Her as Friend

Ross has previously spoken out about her relationship woes, but now she’s revealing the funny part the former president played in it.

Even someone as fabulous as Tracee Ellis Ross can experience problems with her friends. And that’s exactly what she recently detailed when it comes to her friendship with former President Barack Obama. But the story is more hilarious than you may think!

Sitting down for a new interview on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” over the weekend, Ross reflected on her time interviewing with Obama’s wife Michelle for her own podcast some weeks back. On that episode, they discussed Ross’ love life and her dating experiences nowadays and the “Black-ish” star shared that she had a great time talking.

However, once the conversation on Jimmy Kimmel turned to Ross’ love life again, she revealed how the 44th president “failed her as a friend” during a previous breakup.

Explaining how her and her mystery partner decided to part ways, she explained that she later ran into Obama not too long afterwards. Once she informed him of her breakup, the former president allegedly jokingly told her: “I could have told you that.”

“I was like, ‘Well, you failed as a friend. Like, it was your job to say that before,’” Ross defended.

Ross went on to share that while she’s come to the Obamas for love and relationship advice, she’s yet to ask them to set her up with someone–which is a decision Ross feels like she might ought to change given her unsuccessful dating history.

“I like to get set up. I have posed the question to many a friend. I’ve never asked Michelle to set me up, which I think perhaps is dumb, and I need to get on that,” she said.

Ross also went on to say that she prefers to meet men “in the wild” as opposed to meeting them on popular dating apps. As you well know by now, the “Girlfriends” star has no problem opening up about her love life, though she has reached a point to where she doesn’t want to be identified as the “poster child for singledom,” Oprah once dubbed her years ago.

Now, as evidenced by her new traveling series on Roku, she wants that label gone and to just be the poster child for “living in your own skin.”
