Tina Knowles never misses an opportunity to heap praise and talk about her kids and grandchildren. But what she just shared about her eldest granddaughter Blue Ivy may come as a surprise to some.

As you well know by now, Blue has grown up right before our eyes over the last two years, specifically. While her formative younger years had her less in the spotlight, thanks to her mom Beyoncé’s iconic “Renaissance” and “Cowboy Carter” tours, we’ve seen Blue come into her own onstage. Whereas in the former tour she gave us a small glimpse of her dancing talent, it would take the latter, Western-centric tour for us all to realize that Blue might be a mini-powerhouse in the making. She had swag, she absolutely murked her choreography, and strutted her stuff onstage, showing us all just how much she’s evolved.
But, if you thought Blue doing her big one was any inclination into a forthcoming music career, Tina herself isn’t rushing to make that declaration. In fact, speaking in a new interview with PEOPLE, the “Matriarch” author said that she’s not too confident that Blue will go down a similar path like that of her parents because she’s so talented in different areas outside of music.
“I don’t know if that’s her passion,” Tina said. “She can do so many things. She can paint, she writes poetry, anything she puts her mind to do, she’s good at. So I don’t know what she’s going to do. I think she would be great at music, [she] would kill it. But I don’t think that that’s her passion.”
Tina’s sentiments similarly echo that of her ex-husband Mathew Knowles who also spoke on the prospects of his talented grandkids and their futures. While Mathew praised Blue for her hard work, he said that the true one to watch is Blue’s little sister, Rumi.
“Watch out for Rumi though. Rumi’s gonna have the voice… Rumi has the voice,” he said to Don Lemon in August. “Blue Ivy’s also a songwriter, I think it’s going to be a wonderful partnership there and combination.”
For what it’s worth, plenty of folks online also feel like Rumi might actually be the next Beyoncé, as evidenced by a plethora of videos and moments online that show the young child mirroring her mother and unapologetically showing off her personality.
“Don’t cry nepotism when this child becomes a star! She’s clearly putting in work at those rehearsal,” wrote one user on TikTok.
“Baby she has STUDIED her mama lol,” said another.
“Baby Sasha Fierce!!!!” said another, referencing Bey’s past performer alter ego.
Added one other user: “I can’t wait for Rumi’s rise. My 80 year old ass will be front row at her concerts.”
