It is a difficult time to be an immigrant in the United States. ICE raids have been wreaking havoc across the country, leading to immigrants being arrested by ICE agents regardless of whether they have citizenship. President Donald Trump has also made the barrier to entry harder with the introduction of his “gold card,” which expedites the citizenship process for $15,000 and takes priority away from the green card. It is rough.

However, if you think cozying up to Trump and white folks is the best way to get ahead as an immigrant, think again.
On TikTok, a Black woman who goes by Mijobu4life (@thebishoptutu) is giving immigrants advice on how to survive in the U.S. with their dignity intact, by reminding them that nobody knows America better than Black Americans.
“When you come to America, do not climb in bed with white supremacy,” she said in a video. “Don’t let this country whisper in your ear that Black Americans are the people that you shouldn’t trust. That is the oldest lie in the playbook… Because let me tell you something, nobody knows America like Black Americans.”
As the video continues, Mijobu4life tells her viewers that Black folks know better than anyone how racism works in America. She even explains the two kinds of racism they can experience in the U.S.
“There are two kinds of racists,” she said. “You got the loud and proud ones who walk around like a broken fire alarm. Then you got ones who slither around like a snake in church shoes, smiling in your face while they sabotage your job application or promotion.”
The content creator explained where she believes some immigrants go wrong after moving to the U.S.
“Y’all come here to America, and you assimilate instead of integrating,” she said. “You bleach your culture, your language, your food, your customs. You think if you become white adjacent, they gone pull you into the VIP section of whiteness, but that’s not going to happen.”
To end her video, she added: “They don’t care what country you came from; they only care about the color. If you’re smart when you come here, you’ll keep your culture. You’ll keep your identity. You’ll stand with the people that actually know how this system works, and you should be working to shut down racism because it doesn’t help anybody.”
In the comments, users couldn’t help but agree with her message.
“You explained that better than anyone on this platform… Amen, my sister,” wrote one user.
Another user exclaimed, “LOUDER PLEASE!!!!!!!!”
Immigrants also posted comments in support of the advice and thanked her for it.
“Been here since 82. I’ve paid close attention and listened to my African American friends. Thanks for the knowledge,” one user added.
“I’m in the South, not originally from here. I follow y’all. Y’all already survived this. My people glorify them, and it’s an eye-opener,” another wrote.
“I’m Caribbean and strongly endorse,” wrote another.
