To call 13-year-old Mo’Ne Davis a good pitcher would be an understatement.
Mo’Ne, who regularly clocks in pitches at 70 mph, brought her team, the Philadelphia Taney Dragons, to victory during the Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship, according to the Huffington Post.
Mo’Ne, an honor roll student entering eighth grade, will join an elite group—becoming one of just 16 girls to play in the Little League World Series over the past 67 years—when the series starts this Thursday in Williamsport, Pa.
There’s no difference between boys and girls playing baseball, according to Mo’Ne: “We're playing the same game,” she told the Associated Press.
Mo’Ne, whose game walkup song is Beyoncé’s “Run the World (Girls),” is considered a leader of her team. “She’s one of the core team leaders. She’s unflappable,” said Taney Dragons Manager Alex Rice.
