Joshua Allen, 36, who struggled with his mental illness, tragically passed away on Sept. 30 after reportedly stepping in front of a train. His death became public the following day, with the family confirming the details and an investigation underway.
According to Complex, family and friends gathered on Nov. 9 in Fort Worth, Tex. to say their final goodbyes, only to be invited to a fighting match between Allen’s mother Angela Tolbert and his former girlfriend.
In the viral video, Tolbert and the ex-girlfriend are throwing verbal jabs outside the funeral home.
“Show them the paper on what to do,” Tobler said, with another man adding, “She is violating the restraining order.”
“That’s right. We are a threat to her,” the grieving mother continued.
“Well, she should not be here,” the man said. “She should not be here.”
It’s unclear why a restraining order exists, but that didn’t stop the situation from escalating.
When another woman in a navy blue top tried to enter the church, an older woman blocked her, saying, “Don’t you come in.” Following, the two women exchange words.
“You need to whoop her butt like I said,” Tolbert yelled. “She ain’t gotta go to jail. We’ll get an alley baby,” before pushing her again. As you can see, the mother is playing no games with this young woman.
The confrontation turned physical when the ex-girlfriend bent over to kiss Allen, only for Tolbert to jump out of her seat and yank her by the hair.
Voices can be heard shouting, “No! No! No! No! It’s a fight. They’re fighting.”
Church members stepped in to break up the altercation, and moments later, police arrived to de-escalate the situation.
Social media erupted with commentary on the altercation.
One YouTube user wrote, “The ex was wrong for violating the order. Why didn’t she ask if it was ok to come there? That would have been the right thing to do, rather than just showing up. Some people think they got wife status when you are a girlfriend or ex-girlfriend. She is the ex, smh.”
On TikTok, one user pointed out that heightened emotions can intensify conflict. “The funeral of someone that passed away by suicide is already heightened. Having someone who contributed to the downfall of your loved one is asking for trouble.”
Another added, “I will never understand why people choose funerals to play in folks ’ families’ faces. People are already grieving. It just never ends well.”
No word on whether any arrests were made.
