Deaths of Rob Reiner and This Black Opera Great Share Tragic Similarities

The sons of Rob Reiner and Jubilant Sykes both remain in custody after allegedly killing their fathers within days of each other.

Hollywood continues to mourn the tragic death of filmmaker Rob Reiner, who was stabbed to death in his Los Angeles home. Police have since charged his own son for the killing, but what’s more eerie is the shocking details of his murder bare uncanny resemblance to the killing of a renown opera singer, Jubilant Sykes.

Grammy-nominated singer Jubilant Sykes was found with “critical injuries consistent with a stabbing” on the night of Dec. 8– just six days before Reiner was killed. According to ABC 7 News, Sykes’ wife answered the door for responding officers, who quickly arrested Sykes’ own son, Micah, in connection to the incident.

The classically trained artist was pronounced dead at the scene after suffering from multiple stab wounds– similar to Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer, who were both stabbed to death on Dec. 14. Folks online quickly noticed the shocking timing of both murders which occurred just miles away from each other and paid tribute.

“Holidays are supposed to be about coming together and yet here we are with two headlines about sons unaliving their parents,” @BlameEricLamont tweeted. “No family is perfect but I can’t even imagine that level of hate. These families will never be the same.”

Reiner’s son, Nick, was arrested and charged with the double homicide of his parents. The 32-year-old reportedly had a history of mental health issues, according to the LA Times. He’s reportedly on suicide watch at Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles. Sykes’ son, Micah, 31, was denied bail, according to reports.

“It’s so sad. It’s so tragic,” @melez907 said on TikTok. She also called for more parents to take action whenever they noticed their children are getting out of control. “Lock them up because if you don’t do something, then something like this can happen.”

@iheartchubbs0 said, “If you dont hold your children accountable for the things that they’re doing things like this happen smh.”

“Yes, no parent want to have their child locked up, but when it comes to the child becomin, violent towards you and threatening you with physical harm lock them up immediately,” @nicolereneawalker said.

@plantmomma58 responded saying, “It is heartbreaking. What is going on with these younger people?”

@millievereen even pointed out the horrific trend of domestic violence turned deadly. “Yes, this been happening since Cain and Abel, lizzie borden, Marvin Gaye the opposite. Then there’s the Mendez Brothers and now this Sykes and Reiner,” the user wrote. “Who knows how many more has happened we don’t know about. There’s more to come…. It’s mental illness and that’s what time it is. Time for people to wake up to the realness of that. But prayers for all.”

We previously told you Reiner was a successful film director and actor, who is best known for his films “The Princess Bride” and “When Harry Met Sally…” Sykes was a classically trained baritone who was nominated for a best classical album at the 2010 Grammy Awards. Throughout his career, the singer performed at notable paces like Carnegie Hall, the Hollywood Bowl, the Kennedy Center, the Metropolitan Opera House and several others.
