It seems the drama between Ray J and the Kardashian crew (namely Kim and her mother Kris Jenner) will carry onto the end of 2025, as evidenced by a new update. Sadly, this is just yet another issue that the two parties will have to overcome in their years-long feud.

But before we get into what’s happened recently, let’s break down exactly what their issues are and where they stem from. Now we all know that Ray J and Kim’s infamous 2007 sex tap is the crux of the Kardashian’s family fame. After their sex tape was “leaked” and subsequently took over the internet, the Kardashians were able to flip that sordid moment into a multi-million dollar family empire with businesses in various industries and pop culture classic reality TV following.
Meanwhile Ray J’s career alternatively hasn’t seen an iota of the same type of success. Sure, he had some music success and forged his own path as a reality TV star and began several of his own businesses—but his consistent drama at the Kardashians are arguably more known than any of his accomplishments. Why is that, you may ask? Well, it’s because over the years Ray J has clapped back publicly at the famous family and alleged in so many words and in so many ways that he’s the person responsible for how successfully they they ended up. He’s also pushed back on the narrative that he was somehow the bad guy in this entire situation.
His latest attempt came in September 2025 when he alleged he was about to hit the Kim and Kris with a federal RICO case. His sentiments echoed ones he made earlier this year in May in the “TMZ Presents: United States vs. Sean Combs: Inside the Diddy Trial” documentary, where he said that “racketeering charges against the Kardashians would be appropriate.” Because of his words, at the top of October, the mother and daughter slapped the “Last Wish” singer with a defamation suit.
Now, it seems Ray J is fighting back and lobbing a countersuit against them both, arguing that their suit is more about “publicity, power and punishment” rather than defamation. Per US Weekly on Thursday, Ray J argues that Kim and Kris have spent “two decades peddling the false story” that the aforementioned sex tape was leaked and not consensually agreed upon to be released by all three of them.
He’s also doubling down on his previous allegations that Kris “hand-picked” which tape would be best to publicize, noting that there were two tapes shot in two different locations. Additionally, the “One Wish” singer alleges that the two began “lying about their role in the tape’s release” after they signed on for their reality show and that they’re only suing him because they’re outraged that he “no longer wants to play along with their tall tale.” He’s seeking $1 million in damages.
Lawyers for Kim and Kris have since responded to Ray J’s new suit, telling TMZ in a statement: “After realizing he is losing the case and losing his way, this disjointed rambling distraction is not intimidating anyone. Ray J will lose this frivolous case too.”
