In the heart of the Black community, the church is a cornerstone of faith, refuge, and profound history. As families gather at the congregation for worship and the Word on the Sabbath across the nation, and during the week for Bible Study, the church is often the most unexpected place for funny moments, or drama. But that doesn’t stop a thang.

A High Note That Wasn’t Exactly High Enough
A group of Black male singers were singing, “Something About the Name Jesus” by The Rance Allen Group and when the high note came, let’s just say it left much to be desired! After the singer’s voice didn’t quite make it up that high, the congregation had a good laugh about it but never stopped worshipping and continued clapping and singing along.
Folks in the comments called the man’s singing a “rooster’s crow.” Another viewer wrote, “That’s how my car sounds Monday morning when it’s cold out,” while a third person said, “Bro thought he was Lionel Richie.”
The Wrong Key… and Lyrics
The music was starting to play and while a woman stood at the podium, assumingly about to sing, we hear another voice off-camera completely off key. When the person off-camera began to sing, the woman at the podium quickly put her hand up and looked back in horror in an attempt to get back on track. But it never got quite right as the off-camera woman continued shrieking singing while the woman on-stage conceded.
Lyrics Written on… a Singer’s Arm??
A TikToker who goes by Lele posted a video of her brother singing “Trust in God” by Elevation Worship. As he swayed, he began to mumble the words before looking at his left arm where some folks speculated the words were written. He began to giggle over the mishap as the song continued on.
“They never asking him to sing again,” one viewer wrote. A second added: “Ain’t never see the lyrics on a arm that everyone can see,” while a third viewer commended his bravery to sing in front of folks because “God knows his heart.”
A Testimony With a Plot Twist!
One woman was testifying on-stage about how a man put a gun to her stomach and pulled the trigger not once, not twice, but three times. According to the woman, the gun never went off, prompting the man behind the trigger to ask for his soul to be saved. As the congregation erupted in praise and thanksgiving, the woman updated the saints that the man is indeed now saved, sanctified and is now… her husband. *record scratch*
The organ came to a screeching halt, the church went silent, and the woman pointed out the man in the audience who is also her “pastor” and “best friend!”
“I know we all looked round like “he in here, right now?”👀,” one person wrote in the comments. Another penned that would be, “A testimony I’d had to keep between myself and the Lord,” while a third noted how, “The organist went from hallelujah to errr.”
The Firing of a Praise Team Member… Mid-Service
Co-pastor of Macedonia Worship Center in Houston Cassandrea Pope went viral after she fired a praise team member smack dab in the middle of service. The clip of the live-streamed service prompted swift backlash after Pope told her she wasn’t hugged like she usually is by singer Mahoganee Medlock-Brown, she “just don’t do fake,” and double-downed on openly rebuking her right before reciting Psalm 23. Medlock-Brown walked out of the service, hugging fellow praise team singers on the way and vowed not to return on social media.
“They Don’t Want Me To”
A Black woman took to the pulpit to “encourage the family, because that’s what we here fah, is to encourage the family,” assuming the clip was recorded at a funeral. “Don’t nobody need anything negative,” the woman continued before offering to “sing this song.” Before she could even complete her sentence, the congregation let out the loudest sigh and grumbles. The woman undoubtedly heard the church’s reaction and after a brief pause, she concluded in the mic, “They don’t want me to” before walking off.
A Praise and Worship Fail
A praise team leader named Kenne V posted her own worship fail on TikTok. She admitted how she “forgot the whole song and the key” with two crying-face emojis. She wasn’t able to get it quite right, and the song went on without her as the congregation sang instead.
TikTok comments were supportive, as other praise team members confessed, “It happens to the best of us” and “It be like that sometimes.”
A Ringing Cellphone…
While one church was singing praises, the sound guy’s phone wasn’t on silent, adding a surprising jingle to the worship song— a reminder to turn your phone’s ringer off during service.
Prayer With a Side of Knuckle Sandwiches
A South African pastor told a woman how her best friend was moving shady towards her… as the best friend stood right next to her during prayer. After the pastor told the woman, “The enemy is too close to you,” he asked the friend, “Why” and mentioned money and what she had told a third party. After the crowd went up in arms, the friend confessed she “was jealous” and the two women began to fight. It was quickly broken up.
What Not to Do When the Pastor Takes a Tumble
Folks on TikTok admired how two singers on-stage kept their composure when the pastor fell, according to the video’s caption. Although the tumble occurred off-camera, it was how the one singer had to turn his back in an attempt to keep from laughing.
One person commented how, “he’s thinking “is this laugh worth me going to hell?” Other hilarious comments included: “I’ve never laughed so hard watching a video of people not laughing” and “rule #1 don’t look at nobody else.”
“Get Her Up”
One woman felt the Spirit and rolled back and forth on the altar of a church in a clip posted to TikTok. After maybe one roll too many, the man standing at the pulpit instructed somebody… heck anybody, to “Get her up.” The service continued as four people came to get the woman up off the floor.
Forgotten Lyrics… Part 2
“Dah, dah, dah, dah, dah, dah, dah dahhhhhhh,” is what one church singer sang as she didn’t know the words to the worship song. “I need the words right now,” the woman sang. But she made the best of it even after, according to the TikTok’s caption, the media team didn’t run the lyrics. “We gon’ praise the Lord anyways,” she said.
Praise Dance Footwork
This woman gave it her all praise dancing in an— ahem, peculiar manner. As the music played, the woman “river danced” down the aisle because, according to one viewer, “she ain’t new to this she true to this!” Others called how she praised was giving “Sandman [from “Showtime at the Apollo”] vibes” while others complimented her “footwork.” One commenter even wrote how she “saw her in Chicago last November. I was AMAZED at how she never tripped one time!”
When a Pastor Wished a Demon WOULD!
One pastor played zero games when audio of someone— or something— came over the speaker while he was on-stage during service. He stopped, looked around, and told the congregation how he stayed on ready to “cast a demon out!” The TikTok caption said he thought “Chucky was there,” but that didn’t phase him. “This that kind of church, we can go there if you want too,” he said.
