As Vice President Kamala Harris continues to campaign as the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, Trump supporters are hurling a bevy of racist insults her way to deter from winning the election in November. Trump repeated one of them today during his appearance at National Association of Black Journalists in Chicago, in which he claimed Harris isn’t really Black—and that’s just the beginning.
On the heels of Harris’ Atlanta campaign rally this week, here are some of the most heinous claims made by her detractors.

Kamala Harris “Isn’t Really Black”
The right loves saying Harris, who has a Jamaican father and Indian mother, isn’t really Black to stop the support she garners from people of color. Her identity is irrefutable and proves how Trump supporters are grasping at straws from fear of a Harris presidency.
DEI Hire
Trump supporters and even numerous politicians have called Harris a DEI hire by President Joe Biden. However, Harris’ background as an attorney general, district attorney and senator shows that she was more than qualified for the position.
Demonizing Harris’ Dating History
Trump supporters have scrutinized Harris’ dating history and have attempted to demonize her for it. One of her exes, Montel Williams, has spoken out about the attempts at slut-shaming and insisted that it stop.
“Childless Cat Lady”
Trump’s running mate, JD Vance, has called Harris a “childless cat lady” in the past to criticize the fact that she doesn’t have biological children. This, however, backfired and Vance found himself in a whirlwind of controversy.
Harris’ Family Owned Slaves
One of the most confusing claims for the right is that Harris’ family owned slaves. This has been pushed by people like white nationalist streamer Stew Peters who wrote: “Kamala Harris pretends to be Black but her family owned slaves.” Harris’ father claimed that an ancestor owned slaves—but it doesn’t make her any less Black.
VP Focusing On “Colored” Sorority
The right will do anything to denigrate Harris’ educational background, including the HBCU she went to (Howard University) and the fact that she was part of a Black sorority called (Alpha Kappa Alpha). Fox News political commentator Brian Kilmeade allegedly said Harris would rather devote her time to a“colored” sorority in her quest for the Oval, but claims he was misheard.
“Border Czar”
Though the right has labeled Harris as the Biden administration’s “border czar”, it simply is a lie that attempts to pin the “failures” of the border on Harris as part of their agenda to make immigration a central topic of the 2024 presidential election.
Harris “Locked Up Black Men” For Marijuana
The right has run with the claim that Harris has a history of locking up Black men during her time as prosecutor. “She was a bad prosecutor. She was a prosecutor of Black people,” Trump has said in the past. However, the Bay Area News Group showed that there were 1,956 convictions for misdemeanor and felony marijuana offenses from 2004 and 2010 when Harris was in charge of the office. The number of people who were actually sent to state prison was 45.
Trump Calls Harris A “Bum”
In July, Trump once again called Harris out of her name during one of his campaign rallies. He said Harris “was a bum” and a “failed vice president in a failed administration.” Clearly, he overlooked what the Biden-Harris administration has done when it comes to HBCU funding, historic low Black unemployment rates and inflation rates going down.
Kamala “Isn’t Intelligent”
Since becoming VP, critics have gone after everything from Harris’ tenor to her intelligence to her infectious laugh with Trump labeling her “Laughing Kamala.” These high school antics merely show how desperate conservatives truly are.
“Welfare Queen”
In July, JD Vance used his first solo campaign rallies to essentially label Harris a “welfare queen”—a racist and sexist stereotype that has plagued Black women for decades. Vance, and his followers, believe that Harris has done nothing but collect “a government paycheck for the last 20 years” downplaying her history of being a public servant.
Birtherism Claims
When Harris was campaigning for the 2020 presidential election alongside Biden, Trump stated that he “heard” Harris didn’t “qualify” to serve as Vice President which was reminiscent of his birtherism conspiracy surrounding Barack Obama. However, Harris was born in Oakland, California on October 20, 1964.
Pandering To Black Youth
Trump supporters were up in arms over Harris’ campaign rally last night in Atlanta and accused her of using Megan Thee Stallion to pander to Black youth. However, they skipped over the fact that the RNC hosted Amber Rose to encourage Black folks to support Trump. The RNC also hosted both Kid Rock and Hulk Hogan—two men who have a history of racist behavior.
