Social Media Thinks One These Black Celebs Should Be The Next Storm In the MCU

There is a lot of speculation and debate about which Black celebrity could be the next Storm.

When it comes to comic book adaptations, there is one thing that fans care most about and that’s who will be cast to represent their favorite character. And when it comes to Black characters, studios must get it right or otherwise they risk facing an uproar on social media. The latest battle on the Internet is who could be the next Storm? As you know, she is a fierce superhero from the Marvel Universe. Silver hair, brown with a kick-ass outfit, Storm is most importantly…Black. There is a lot of speculation and debate about who will take Halle’s place, but what fans want, most importantly, is for the studios to get it right. Until then, here are some possible candidates for the role.

Jodie Turner-Smith

Jodie Turner-Smith’s look is fierce like Storm and you know the model would look fabulous with silver hair. What do you think? She has the looks, but does she have the acting chops?

Keke Palmer

Keke Palmer’s name has been buzzing around social media for the role of Storm, and I don’t see any good reason why she shouldn’t be cast. She is talented and charming, and from her role in Jordan Peele’s US, Palmer has the range to bring out what the action role would need.

Anna Diop

Anna Diop has proven herself to have the superhero abilities as she played Starfire for DC’s Titans. But does this create a conflict of interest for her? Can someone in the DCU be part of the MCU?

Jade Cargill

Screenshot: Jade Cargill Screenshot: Jade Cargill

Jade Cargill already has the silver hair look down, but can she act? Isn’t wrestling part acting? We know Cargill can master any fight scene and stunts. Yes, she must be a possible candidate for the role.

Angela Bassett

Angela Bassett is a fan favorite for the role. Who doesn’t love Angela Bassett? However, let’s not forget that she is already part of the MCU as Ramonda. T’challa’s and Shuri’s mum and Queen of Wakanda in Black Panther. Can she be both…maybe Ramonda is living a double life that we are not aware of…

Megan Thee Stallion

Screenshot: Instagram Screenshot: Instagram

Megan Thee Stallion could definitely embody the role of Storm. From a couple of scrolls on her Instagram, you’ll see that Megan Thee Stallion enjoys cosplaying and switching up her look, and we know our girl eats every look she tries! So why not put Megan in hair and makeup and see what she can bring to the role?

Teyana Taylor

Screenshot: Instagram Screenshot: Instagram

Teyana Taylor would slay in such a role. She looks like a superhero, and considering her dance skills, she could pick up the steps in a choreographed fight scene and make it look badass.

Cynthia Erivo

Screenshot: Instagram Screenshot: Instagram

Cynthia Erivo has expressed her desire to play Storm, and I we think she has the range to do it. The Wicked star already has proven she can play a supernatural character. That training would come in handy for such a role. At the very least, she deserves a screen test to see what she can bring to the role.

Michaela Coel

Screenshot: Instagram Screenshot: Instagram

Ok, we know Michaela Coel can do action. Proven by her roles in Mr and Mrs Smith and Black Panther 2. However, it raises the same question that we had for Angela Bassett. Since Coel is already in the MCU, can she take on another role? Maybe an exception could be made.

Ryan Destiny

Screenshot: Instagram Screenshot: Instagram

Ryan Destiny is fierce, just like Storm. She has the perfect look for a superhero. Just imagine her with silver hair. Now try telling yourself that she doesn’t suit the role. Impossible.

Anok Yai

Screenshot: Instagram Screenshot: Instagram

Anok Yai may not be an actress, but if she ever decided to branch out, what a breakout role Storm would be? She is tall, stunningly beautiful and has that powerful way about her. If Anok Yai wanted to put her hand up and say, “I want the role,” then we think she should be considered.

Arsema Thomas

Arsema Thomas is another consideration. Though Thomas only recently made their debut role in a feature film, “She Taught Love,” from the work that Thomas has done in past series, such as Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, I think they have what it takes to play such a role. Thomas can be both soft and outspoken depending on what their character needs.

DeWanda Wise

Screenshot: Instagram Screenshot: Instagram

DeWanda Wise looks supernatural. Though a lot of the women in this slideshow would be able to embody Storm, DeWanda Wise is just perfect for the role. Wise has also stated that Storm is the “Only Marvel character” she has ever been interested in. So, sign her up to see her emerge as part of the MCU!
