The Internet Can’t Get Enough of Rumi Carter Giving Beyoncé the Most Relatable Mom Moment Ever

In a now-viral clip, Beyoncé proves that even famous Black mama’s don’t like to have to repeat themselves to their kids.

If you grew up with a Black mother, you already know that “no” is never an acceptable response to anything she asks of you (that is, unless you want to get knocked into next week or have the taste slapped out of your mouth). But it looks like one of our favorite Black 8-year-olds was feeling a little froggy during a recent night out with her parents and thought she would test the waters with her Black mama, who just so happens to be an international superstar.

In a now-viral video, Beyoncé can be heard telling her youngest daughter, Rumi, to go to the car at the end of the night. But Rumi didn’t move and responded “I don’t want to,” something that had the entire Black internet clutching their pearls – and even caused a few to warn the eight-year-old about what happens when you cross your mother in public.

Check it out here:

Many who watched the clip felt Rumi was saved from a good old-fashioned butt whuppin’ by the cameras and warned that she’ll face the real wrath of Queen Bey when she gets home.

“I think she’s trying gentle parenting, but baby when them cameras and extra eyes ain’t around!!! Lights OWT Rumí !” wrote someone on X.

Another TikToker agreed, adding that the perfectly poised pop star will be quick to show her kids who runs the world when they’re out of the spotlight.

“Y’all ’bout to get it in that car,” warned @pejayeugene. “Again, Beyoncé is a Black mother. All that pop star sh*t and diva this and diva that, run the world girls and get in formation don’t mean sh*t when it comes to them kids.”

Other commenters couldn’t help but point out that even Papa Jay-Z didn’t budge during the confrontation, likely because he already knew that his youngest daughter just brought a whole bunch of trouble on herself.

“Meanwhile jay z was in the back looking scared for rumi 😂😂,” wrote someone on TikTok.

But if you’ve followed Rumi, you already know that she has no problem pushing boundaries. Just check out this clip of an exchange she has with singer Patti LaBelle who confronted her at the New York City stop on Brandy and Monica’s “The Boy Is Mine” tour.

“You’re tired, aren’t you?” LaBelle can be heard asking Rumi in a clip after what had to be a long night for such a little girl.

LaBelle gives Bey a look of shock when Rumi shakes her head “no.”
