Fans of Nickelodeon’s popular 1994 sketch comedy show “All That” will be sad to learn of the tragic fate of one of the show’s stars: Kianna Underwood. And believe us when we say, this is a truly sad story.

Undwerwood was struck by a black SUV Jan. 16 while attempting to cross the street in Brooklyn, per a police report obtained recently by NBC News. While she was already on the ground, she was hit a second time by a black and gray sedan and was apparently not helped by either driver. The police report confirmed that Underwood was pronounced dead on the scene and “experiencing homelessness” at the time of her death.
In a since-deleted post to Facebook obtained by PEOPLE, Underwood’s father Anthony broke his silence after finding out about the death of his daughter and questioned if she received any sort of “compassion” during her final moments.
Telling a story of how he once saw a harmed fox in the middle of the road get hit again by another car and drawing a comparison to his daughter, Anthony wrote: “All I can think about is did anyone show my baby that same compassion, as someone ran her over like roadkill. Did anyone try to comfort my baby as she layed dying in the street alone, or did they just stand around with their phones?”
What makes this situation even sadder is that one of Underwood’s costars from “All That,” Angelique Bates, tried to sound the alarm on her being unhoused back in 2023 and urged for other stars from the show and the network to step in and help her.
“If some of use are already acting like we care and we’re big brothers and big sisters or whatever and we calling the younger cast members that were on our franchise ‘little brothers and little sisters,’ and we’re being selective publicly with who we’re trying to help. Like I said, I’m not gon’ say any names because everybody deserves help. But, don’t be selective. Like I said, she’s one of us and she needs help,” Bates said at the time.
After learning of Underwood’s death, Bates posted a video tribute of her on Instagram with the caption: “Y’all have no idea how much this one hurts…Sick to my stomach….So many people failed baby girl.
The revelation of Underwood’s homelessness is yet an unfortunate notch in the belt of Nickelodeon child stars who’ve experienced hardships as they’ve grown up. Recently, “Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide” star Tylor Chase made headlines after one of his castmates found out he was homeless and tried to put him up in a hotel.
Chase unfortunately trashed the room and was spotted back on the streets not too much time after that. And of course, who could forget the struggles that Amanda Bynes went through and all the sadly negative headlines and concerns she’s garnered over the years.
Some of these actor’s trajectories are especially sad considering the tumultuous experience they allegedly had while working on Nickelodeon, as evidenced by the 2024 documentary “Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV.”
That project detailed an alleged toxic work environment created by then-popular showrunner and producer Dan Schneider. It also shed light on alleged abuse and misogynstic and sexually suggestive content that took place on some of the shows overseen by Schneider and others.
