Although the 2025 Golden Globes may have passed, people are still buzzing about the festivities thanks to a hilarious, viral video involving actor Leonardo DiCaprio. In it, he’s extremely animated and poking fun at a mystery person for not knowing what KPop Demon Hunters was, the show that took home the award for Best Original Song. And now DiCaprio’s “One Battle After Another” co-star Teyana Taylor is shedding some light on the whole ordeal.

On Thursday, Teyana–who also won a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture that night—told Access Hollywood that she was the one that DiCaprio was messing with during the show.
“I want to say we might have been talking about KPop Demon Hunters because I was so happy that they won because my kids love KPop Demon Hunters. So I was over there just jamming and I think he caught me jamming and that’s when we started talking about it. But I just don’t remember what he was saying,” she said at the time.

However, in a followup interview on Thursday night’s episode of “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” Teyana took back her words and clarified that the “Catch Me If You Can” star couldn’t have been talking to her and explained why.
“OK, so look. Yesterday I thought I broke the DaVinci Code, right? They were like ‘yeah, he’s talking to Teyana.’ Now, ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ won and my kid’s favorite song is ‘Golden.’ So I was like really excited. So when I first seen it [DiCaprio’s video], I didn’t watch the whole thing,” she explained. “So I was like, ‘Oh he’s talking about “KPop Demon Hunters.” He was talking about me.’ But then I watched it, they was doing the lip read thing, and I had to call Leo.”
She went on to explain how she told her “OBAA” co-star that she knew what K-pop was because their other co-star Chase Infiniti had gotten her hip prior to then. Teyana then questioned DiCaprio as to who exactly he was talking to since he appeared to be “kiki-ing” and being extra friendly and animated in the same that he would usually be towards her.
“So apparently, he had two ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ conversations that night! So, ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ was just in his mouth all night. And I’m like who else are you kiki-ing with like that? Because literally, that’s how we like to kiki…So I had like a little friendly jealousy. I was like who else are you chewing your invisible gum with?” said Teyana.
As for exactly who the mystery person was that DiCaprio was talking to? “He don’t even remember who he was talking to. He was like ‘I don’t even know.’ But somebody here has some questions. But I was like, ‘Yeah it wasn’t me,” Teyana said.
So unfortunately, just like the number of licks it takes to get to the Tootsie Roll center of a Tootsie pop, the world may never know who Leo was joking with that night. Thank you, Teyana, for somewhat putting our minds at ease—kind of.
