If you’ll remember, fans first suspected things may not have been sweet with the famous siblings once Tia came out with her short-lived reality TV show, “Tia Mowry: My Next Act,” in 2024. As we told you, during one of the episodes, she said that she felt lonely in the aftermath from her divorce from her ex-husband Cory Hardrict and how it’s times like that that she wished she and Tamera were “still close.”
“Being alone has been the hardest part of my divorce. It’s times like this that I feel and wish that my sister and I were still close and I could pick up the phone and call her. But that’s just not where we are right now,” she said at the time.
Back then, Tamera also shared that she wasn’t asked to be involved with the reality show and remarked that her sister was “doing her” and that she was going to respect that.
Now, it seems like Tamera is opening up a bit more about her and her sister’s up and down relationship as evidenced by a new interview. Sitting down on the “Barely Famous” podcast recently, the “Sister, Sister” star shared that their relationship started fracturing when they lived together years ago. Explaining how they were under the same roof for six years, Tamera described that time period as “one of the hardest transitions” of her life and said that the two of them rarely got along.
“When we were in our parent’s house, [we’re] twins, ‘Sister, Sister’ we did everything together. At 20—we moved out pretty late because I loved my life in my parent’s house. You didn’t have to do much!” Tamera said. “When we moved, I remember having lots of arguments. I remember asking Tia, ‘Who the hell are you? Who is this?’ Then she was like, ‘Well, who are you?’ Because we we’re different. We were evolving into these different human beings.”
She went on to say that as the years went by, they kept forcing the other sibling to act like each other, with Tamera trying to push her way of doing things on Tia and vice versa.
“That was horrible, it was constant—it was just bad,” she said. Tamera also noted that she had slight issues with always being referred to as “the twins” as she wanted to have her own autonomy and didn’t like being constantly compared to her sister. Though, she did make it clear that those feelings weren’t because of anything that Tia did, but rather outside and external reactions from others.
Later, Tamera said that a resolve finally came when she and her sister both realized that they were “the yin” to each other’s yang and that they’d be more powerful as a unit if they each showed up as authentically as they could.
