In a series of Instagram posts and stories, SZA has teased a line of tees and sweatshirts embroidered with slogans like โ€œSustainability Gangโ€ and โ€œPuck Flastic,โ€confirming through a comment that 100 percent of the collectionโ€™s profits will be directed toward ocean sustainability.

Of course, whatโ€™s not clear yet is whether the Champion-produced clothing conforms to sustainability and fair labor standards. Fast fashion is, after all, notorious for both horrible environmental and employment practices.

As at least one commenter questioned: โ€œIs this made with sustainable textiles? Were the people who made it treated well and compensated fairly?โ€

Hopefully, SZA will be transparent about the sourcing and production of these items, which weโ€™re eager to see succeedโ€”but are equally hoping are made of recycled fibers in equitable and healthy labor conditions. Because while we should all be concerned with the state of our oceans, weโ€™d hate to see SZAโ€™s admirable efforts to do good for the environment backfire behind the seams.
