On Tuesday, the U.S. Embassy In Kenya shared that 40-year-old Kevin Kangetheβwho is suspected of murdering his girlfriend Margaret Mbituβhas been taken into custody. Mbitu, who was just 31 years old at the time of her death, was reported missing on Oct. 30, 2023. Her body was found two days later at a parking garage at Boston Logan International Airport.
A warrant was issued for Kangetheβs arrest following the killing. The warrant stated that the Massachusetts State Police responded to Loganβs Central Parking Garage at 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 1, 2023, and found Kangetheβs vehicle, a white 2013 Toyota Venza, inside.

In a move that shocked many, Kangethe then flew off to Kenya. State Police spokesperson David Procopio explained that the suspect was captured βbased on our arrest warrant and after extensive coordination betweenβ several law enforcement agencies.
Following Kangetheβs apprehension, Suffolk District Attorney Kevin Hayden released a statement saying: βIβm extremely grateful to the U.S. Department of Stateβs Diplomatic Security Service, the FBI, Kenyan law enforcement agencies, the Kenyan government and the Massachusetts State Police for bringing the person accused of Margaret Mbituβs brutal murder into custody.β
Hayden also said that βtheir tremendous and untiring efforts will provide Margaretβs family and friends the opportunity to see Kevin Kangethe face justice for this terrible crime.β Currently, Kangethe is expected to be extradited to the U.S. at a later date that has yet to be disclosed.
On Tuesday morning, Mbituβs family said that they were notified of the arrests by the district attorney and state police. They also stated that they are βthankful for all of the prayers.β
