Since 2023, we have been keeping you up to date on the messy divorce and custody battle between Jodie Turner-Smith and her ex-husband Joshua Jackson. However, in a surprising turn of events last week, things have taken a positive turn between the exes, and they’re even settling their custody battle out of court. Here’s the latest!

As previously reported, Jackson sought an emergency modification to their custody agreement for their five-year-old daughter after Turner-Smith allegedly enrolled their daughter in a new school without informing Jackson. This action, as previously reported, would reportedly violate their agreement requiring the school to be within a 45-minute commute of Jackson’s home. Jackson also expressed concern that Turner-Smith might attempt to travel with their daughter.
In the end, Turner-Smith was given the final say on the matter of Juno’s education, but she would have to include Jackson in the conversation before making her decision, according to PEOPLE.
Now, according to court documents filed earlier on Oct. 14 and obtained by PEOPLE, the court hearing, which was scheduled to take place the next day, has been called off.
The documents read: “The parties (Turner-Smith and Jackson) will return to the privately compensated temporary judge to resolve any impasses in the proposed judgment.”
Neither of the two has made a public statement on the matter of the custody trial or their reasoning for deciding to settle their disputes outside of court, but it’s clear that the two have always wanted the best for their daughter, as in an interview with The Sunday Times in 2024, Turner-Smith stated, “Sometimes things we really want to work just don’t end up working, and that’s okay. The most important thing is that you choose what’s healthiest for you and your family, and definitely your children.”
