It turns out that things are very strict in the Harvey household when it comes to how much Steve Harvey can interact with his daughter’s exes. On “The Pivot Podcast,” hosted by NFL stars Ryan Clark, Fred Taylor, and Channing Crowder, the comedian shared some thoughts on his daughter’s love life and how difficult he has found it to step back from his fatherly role now that his daughter is an adult.

After telling a hilarious story about his Lori Harvey’s teenage years, when he made her prom date so nervous that he dropped her off at home fifteen minutes before curfew, Harvey added that now that his daughter is an adult, he can’t be as involved.
“You know, man, see, I gotta be careful, ’cause Lori boy, she be in my a**. I can’t make no mistakes… I saw one of her exes somewhere, at a game somewhere, and I shook his hand. Boy, I can’t even touch his a** no more. I better not acknowledge him or look at him or nothing no more. So, I’m off limits. If you an ex, you’re ass is my ex too,” the comedian cracked his hosts up as he spoke.
The incident that got Harvey in trouble with his daughter was when he saw Michael B. Jordan at a basketball game in Abu Dhabi in 2023. Social media had a lot to say when they saw the comedian hugging his daughter’s ex, with fans joking that the two entertainers had missed each other. Now it sounds like Lori Harvey has laid down the law for her father.
“…The rule in our house is any boy who’s an ex, he’s now my ex too,” Harvey continued. “I must hate him like we was dating.”
On Instagram, fans continued to theorize that Steve Harvey misses Michael B. Jordan, and that the actor might even be his daughter’s favorite ex:
“We all collectively liked Michael with her. Let Unc have this one, he was the favorite,” wrote one fan with laughing emoji’s.
“I can tell Michael B. Jordan breakup was hard on pops, too,” added another.
“I just know Steve whispered to him (Michael B. Jordan), ‘Sorry man, I wish it was you too,” wrote another.
But on a more serious note, the comedian added that he feels for his daughter because her life has been played out in the public eye, which he knows is not easy.
“It’s been difficult, man, watching her. But she’s very smart, and everything they say online I know is never true. I hate it for her. But I think she’s figuring it out now. I hope and I think she’s learned from her mistakes, like you want your children to learn from their mistakes, but she’s an adult and I don’t get a say so it in it.”
