In 1975 Stephanie Mills played Dorothy when The Wiz appeared on Broadway. And now, 40 years later, she’s easing on down the road again, but in a different role. Mills has been cast as Auntie Em in NBC’s The Wiz Live!

Nicholas Duvernay Talks ‘White Lotus’ Season 3, Working with Natasha Rothwell
The casting announcement was made Monday by NBC Entertainment Chairman Bob Greenblatt. Although Greenblatt did not divulge any casting information regarding the role of Dorothy, he did say that the network was seeking “new talent.”
The musical will air live on NBC Dec. 3.
