Musa, who goes by @Musa_USA online, often posts his wholesome chats with customers as he prepares the hot dogs they order from his food truck. But in a video posted to his TikTok account on Sunday, March 29, what the vendor thought was a typical moment with a client turned out to be a robbery.
In the clip, Musa can be heard speaking with the customer before going quiet and turning his back to prepare the order. In that quiet moment, the man reaches over the counter to swipe a couple of bills from the tip jar, unaware he is being filmed.
While stealing from Musa, the man continues to ask how much the food will cost, pretending he is calculating the total. He then says he needs to get money from his car, making a sneaky getaway.
That led the comments to blow up with disdain toward the thief.
“WOW SO SAD THAT’S NOT RIGHT PRAYING FOR YOU,” wrote one user.
“Damn shame! F that guy! He doesn’t know who he is messing with. Musa is the best,” added another.
A third, along with many others, called for the man to be arrested: “Lock him up!!!!!”
On April 1, Musa posted a heartwarming update to his YouTube channel about the theft. Assuming he was being visited by any other hot-dog-wanting customer, Musa opened the window of his food truck to a lady waiting for him. He got a shock when she immediately offered to pay back what her son had taken.
“A little while ago, a young man came to your stand and took money out of your tip jar. I’m his mother. How much did he take from you?” she asked, refusing to take Musa’s no for an answer. “I’m going to pay, because my son wasn’t raised like that.”
After putting 30 dollars back into Musa’s tip jar, the mom explained that her son has a drinking problem that causes him to act out.
“I put my son in treatment; I pray he stays and gets some help, but I want you to be okay,” she said. Showing each other—and the livestreaming audience—that there was no bad blood between them, the two hugged it out on camera.
“Peace, love, respect, we’re going to leave it at that. I love it,” Musa said to his audience after the mom had left, before exclaiming, “I love Baltimore!”
In the comments, folks were dabbing their eyes with napkins at the sweet moment shared between Musa and the kind mother.
