Sherri Shepherd’s Doctor Told Her She Needed a Facelift. Here’s What She Did Instead

Popular daytime talk show host Sherri Shepherd is pushing back against Hollywood’s impossible beauty standards. And her latest post to social media is just further proof of that and includes a message we all could stand to hear.

As you well know by now, Shepherd has long been a fixture on TV ever since her early comedic acting days on “The Jamie Foxx Show” and later, various sitcoms. In 2006, she’d get her most notable role yet– cohost of ABC’s “The View,” in which she lasted for about eight years before opting to leave and return only in a guest capacity.

Seeing as how she’s been in the spotlight for at least the past two decades, it’s reasonable to expect that she’d be put on to all of the industry’s latest “camera-ready” tips, tricks, trends and procedures. But even for someone like Shepherd, there are just some trends she’s not going to partake in. Specifically–when it comes to getting any sort of plastic surgery on her face, the longtime television personality is choosing to say “no” and embracing her natural beauty instead.

As evidenced by an Instagram video she posted over the Labor Day weekend, Shepherd shared a no-makeup, filter free video and revealed to her fans and followers that one of her doctors recently suggested she get a facelift citing the fact that everyone around Hollywood was getting some work done. However, while the “Sherri” show host doesn’t pass judgment on any of those people who choose to do so, she’s decided to uphold and revere the natural beauty “that comes from age and living a full life,” instead.

“This is my natural face with no makeup. The lines around my mouth are deep because of the laughter from my soul… my eyes are droopy because of the weight of tears I have shed,” Shepherd explained. “I have two chins because I have had to hold up anxiety, worry & beautiful memories. My lips turn downward but they quickly turn upwards with joy. My nose gets fuller every year because I need to breathe in a lot of peace.”

She concluded by saying that her doctor wanted her to do “multiple fillers to give me a ‘refreshed’ look” but she’s decided to love herself just as she is–no facelift enhancements necessary.

“I am loving me just as I am. A warrior,” she wrote.

In the comments section of her post, many women praised Shepherd for her stance and affirm her decision.

“You have always been one of my favorites! You are beautiful and you don’t need no face lift. Your face card NEVER misses along with your beautiful spirit,” wrote one user.

“Beautiful inside and out! Skin Glowing , and a full life,” said another.

“No U don’t .. U are beautiful… just as U are … they want that $$ but seriously U do Not need it,” one other user wrote.

Added another: “A REAL Man wants a REAL Woman! What’s most important, though, is how YOU see and accept YOURSELF!!! Keep Loving You!!! (Just had to add that!)”
