Sharpe was a regular on ESPN’s popular “First Take” before taking a leave of absence from the show and network following the allegations in April.

ORIGINAL STORY: Sharpe’s ex-girlfriend and accuser just made a major announcement on social media days after the news broke of her settling and dropping her lawsuit against the ESPN host.

As we reported, Sharpe settled the lawsuit, which was first filed earlier this year, on Friday. The accuser, Gabriella Zuniga, claimed the former NFL star raped her and videotaped her without her consent and was seeking $50 million in damages. They settled for undisclosed terms, and now, Zuniga, an OnlyFans model, shared on social media that she is quitting the platform.

In a now-deleted post, Zuniga wrote that she “decided to retire” from the online platform. “Thank you for the incredible support you’ve shown me over the past few years,” the post read. “This community has given me a life I could have never imagined.”

She added that she plans on still being “active” on social media, and has “several new projects in the works.”

Naturally, the internet had some immediate thoughts about this, particularly regarding the timing of her announcement of retirement just hours after the lawsuit was settled for an undisclosed amount.

Social media personality @TheKempire, shared a post TikTok, “The timleness of this retirement is not lost on me, and it just continues for social media to speculate, how much exactly did Shannon Sharpe settle for in this lawsuit?”

Another Tiktok creator @Po.lette, shared a similar video, saying, “Lady taken care of and is set for life,” while also saying that the downfall of grown men is often is their “inability to control” their urges. Under the comments of the post, reactions were split, with some congratulating her on the retirement and getting money, while others claiming, “she never cared about the lawsuit she wanted to embarrass him and get her money.”

Others on social media are more skeptical of the announcement and the optics. On X, @Stevozone4_ wrote that they have “never seen” a retirement announcement immediately after a settlement before. They wrote in a follow-up post, “It’s not her retiring that shocks me. It’s her announcing it.”

@iam_johnw wrote in another post on X, “Shannon sharpe retired a 20 year old only fans worker while his kids still clocking in.”

Many fans also took to the comments of a post on @theneighborhoodtalk on Instagram, sharing their two cents on the situation. One user wrote, “Retired herself on his dime 😂😭.” Another posted, “They didn’t give us not one reparation but they still getting theirs and these men are easy licks!!!”

Another user, in a comment with over 1,000 likes, wrote, “that girl got rich & said she never gotta work again. 😭😭😂😂 check mateeee.”

As we reported, Tony Buzbee, the lawyer representing the accuser, said in a statement shared to his social media on Friday afternoon, “Both sides acknowledge a long-term consensual and tumultuous relationship,” and added, “After protracted and respectful negotiations, I’m pleased to announce that we have reached a mutually agreed upon resolution. All matters have now been addressed satisfactorily, and the matter is closed.”
