Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar is one of the loudest voices against ICE presence in her state, especially following the shooting deaths of two Americans in Minneapolis. But a town hall event to address the ongoing violence took a shocking turn when one man in the crowd did the unthinkable.

Among her many statements on Tuesday (Jan. 27) night, Omar called for Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem to step down from leadership or “face impeachment.” We previously told you calls for Noem’s resignation continue to grow after the death of Alex Pretti, an ICE nurse and anti-ICE protester shot and killed by agents on Saturday (Jan. 24).
The town hall audience crowd clapped in response to Omar’s demands, but one person wasn’t happy. Seemingly in direct response to her words, a man identified as Anthony Kazmierczak, 55, stood up from his front row seat and rushed the congresswoman. He held a syringe, and sprayed Omar with a mysterious yellow liquid.
What was in the syringe remains unclear, although investigators are handling the matter. In the aftermath of the incident, multiple people close to Omar can be heard saying, “Oh my God, he sprayed something on her” and that the liquid smelled “terrible.”
The U.S. representative was not hurt, according to police department spokesperson Trevor Folke. In fact, she stood her ground and tried to confront Kazmierczak directly. The man was quickly tackled to the ground by security guards in the room.
Omar continued the town hall saying, “We will continue. These f***ing a**holes are not going to get away with this,” she shouted. “We are Minnesota strong, and we will stay resilient in the face of whatever they might throw at us.”
The Tuesday incident is the latest politically motivated against a Congressperson this year. We also told you about the recent attack against Fla. Rep. Maxwell Frost during the Sundance Film Festival. Then, the Gen Z Congressman was reportedly physically assaulted by a “white” Trump-supporter spewing racist language at Frost. The man has since been arrested.
Omar’s attacker was also arrested at the scene and charged with third-degree assault, Fox News reported. “I’m ok,” Omar wrote on X after the incident. “I’m a survivor so this small agitator isn’t going to intimidate me from doing my work. I don’t let bullies win. Grateful to my incredible constituents who rallied behind me. Minnesota strong.”
Politicians like Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett and Minn. Attorney General Keith Ellison spoke out against the violence towards Omar. When asked about the Tuesday attack, however, President Trump’s response was very telling….
He told ABC News, “I don’t think about her. I think she’s a fraud.” Trump continued accusing Omar of staging the whole thing. “She probably had herself sprayed, knowing her.”
Since the start of his second term, Trump’s tense relationship with Rep. Omar has only escalated over his mass deportation effort in Minnesota. The president has promised to prosecute Omar and even threatened to deport her.
