‘Scandal’ Cast: Where Are They Now?

From Kerry Washington to Tony Goldwyn, the popular ABC show is still making waves after all these years!

Though its been 12 years since the popular, Shonda Rhimes-created show “Scandal” went off the air, the memories of our favorite TV “gladiators” are still fresh in our minds.

That’s So Raven Dad Pleads For Donations From Hospital Bed

Whether that’s due to series leads Kerry Washington and Tony Goldwyn making cameos at the Democratic National Convention to rally support for Vice President Kamala Harris or due to most of the cast reuniting on a bus tour for reproductive rights—what’s abundantly clear is that absence from our screens has only made audience member’s hearts grow fonder of them.

So it’s because of that, we felt it fitting to take a look at what some the main cast is doing nowadays!

Kerry Washington- Olivia Pope

In the years since “Scandal” went off the air in 2018, Kerry Washington—who played series lead and famous fixer “Olivia Pope”—has starred in a handful of shows and films such as Hulu’s “Little Fires Everywhere” and “Unprisoned,” and Netflix’s “The School of Good and Evil.”

Next she’ll be appearing in Tyler Perry’s forthcoming film “The Six Triple Eight,” slated to drop Dec. 2024 and “Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery,” slated to premiere in 2025.

 

Tony Goldwyn- President Fitzgerald Grant

Since “Scandal” went off the air, Tony Goldwyn—who played Olivia Pope’s love interest and President of the United States “Fitzgerald Grant”—has still been making appearances in shows like “Lovecraft Country,” “The Hot Zone,” and most recently “Law & Order.” On the film front, he’s been in “Oppenheimer,” “King Richard,” and recently directed “Ezra,” which premiered back in May.

Joe Morton- Rowan “Papa” Pope

Joe Morton, who famously played “Rowan” a.k.a.Olivia’s dad “Papa Pope” and the head of B613—the covert government agency that was responsible for all sorts of heinous activity—has been active since “Scandal.”

His most recent roles include short stints on “Our Kind of People,” “God Friended Me,” and his popular Crackle series “Inside the Black Box.”

Bellamy Young- Mellie Grant

Bellamy Young—who played “Mellie Grant,” the First Lady and wife of Golwydn’s Fitgerald Grant and eventual President of the U.S.—has been active since “Scandal.”

Her most recent roles include: “Prodigal Son,” “Promised Land,” and “Love & Debt.”

Columbus Short- Harrison Wright

Columbus Short, who famously played “Harrison Wright,” Olivia Pope’s right-hand man and lowkey second in command of the “gladiators”—has kept a relatively low profile since he was let go of “Scandal” after season three.

This was due to his drug and alcohol abuse, tumultuous marriages and divorces, and domestic violence allegations.

In 2020, he wrote an autobiography “Short Stories and recently reunited with his former castmates Katie Lowes and Guillermo Diaz on the Shondaland podcast, “Unpacking the Toolbox” earlier this year.

Scott Foley- Jake Ballard

Scott Foley, who famously played “Jake Ballard”—former director of the NSA-turned White House Chief of Staff, turned head of B613—has been active since “Scandal.”

His most recent roles include: the Broadway play “The Thanksgiving Play,” the short-lived ABC series “Whiskey Cavalier,” and a guest spot on the popular albeit fake in-show series on “Insecure” called “Due North.”

Cornelius Smith Jr.- Marcus Walker

Cornelius Smith Jr., who famously played “Marcus Walker”—a newer addition to the “gladiators” who joined “Olivia Pope & Associates” in season six—has been active since “Scandal.”

His most recent roles include: “Five Days at Memoria,” “God Friended Me,” “Self Made,” and the Lifetime Christmas film “Jingle Bell.”

Darby Stanchfield- Abby Whelan

Darby Stanchfield, who famously played “Abby Whelan”—one of the “gladiators” and member of “Olivia Pope & Associates”—has been somewhat active since “Scandal.”

Her most recent roles include: Disney’s “Stargirl,” Netflix’s “Locke and Key,” and “Justine.”

Katie Lowes- Quinn Perkins

Katie Lowes, who famously played “Quinn Perkins”—the initially green member of the “gladiatiors” who was recruited by Harrison and eventually turned into a B613 operative and head of “Olivia Pope & Associates” has been active since “Scandal.”

Her most recent roles include: Netflix’s “Inventing Anna,” CBS short-lived series “How We Roll,” and a handful of Christmas movies.

Guillermo Diaz- Huck

Guillermo Diaz, who famously played “Huck”—former black ops and assassin for B613-turned tech wiz for “Olivia Pope & Associates”—has been somewhat active since “Scandal.”

His most recent roles include: “Bros,” “United We Fall,” and the indie thriller “You Can’t Stay Here.”

Khandi Alexander- Maya Lewis a.k.a. Mama Pope

Khandi Alexander, who famously played Maya Lewis, a.k.a. “Mama Pope”—Olivi Pope’s mother and a covert lone wolf determined to take down the government by any means necessary—has kept a relatively low profile since “Scandal.”

In 2023, she attended the TCM Classic Film Festival to discuss her role in the 1998 film, “There’s Something About Mary.” In 2018, it was announced she’d be starring in the lead role in the reboot of the 1974 show “Get Christie Love” but ABC ultimately passed on it.

Norm Lewis- Edison Davis

Norm Lewis, who famously played “Edison Davis”—Olivia’s ex-boyfriend and Senator of Florida—has been active since “Scandal.”

His most recent roles include: Spike Lee’s “Da 5 Bloods,” “Just Mercy,” and an appearance on Donald Glover’s hit Prime Video show “Swarm.”

Jeff Perry- Cyrus Beene

Jeff Perry, who famously played “Cyrus Beene”—President Fitzgerald Grant’s Chief of Staff and eventual Vice President under Mellie Grant—has been active since “Scandal.”

His most recent roles include: ABC’s short-lived series “Alaska Daily,” “Inventing Anna,” and “Nash Bridges.”

Joshua Malina- David Rosen

Joshua Malina, who famously played “David Rosen”—the do-gooder Attorney General who was often at odds with Oliva Pope & Associates (and later Cyrus Beene, IYKYK) has kept a relatively low profile since “Scandal.”

His most recent roles include short stints on “Inventing Anna,” “American Auto,” and in the Broadway production of “Leopoldstadt.”
