Save Sundress Season! Rihanna Just Reminded Us of the Summer We're Not Having

If you’ve yet to hear the rumors, Rihanna and Donald Glover (aka Childish Gambino) are currently filming together in Cuba, as both are reportedly cast members of the upcoming Guava Island, directed by Atlanta and “This Is America” video director Hiro Murai. While we’ve yet to hear any details about a plot or release date, our curiosity was piqued when Fader reported that Cuban outlet Vistar spotted the two filming in Havana, and that the cast also includes Black Panther breakout star Letitia Wright.

But all curiosity about the production aside, at the moment, we’re just downright jealous. While we were tethered to our laptops on Monday night, watching Gambino and Murai’s efforts on “This Is America” earn three VMAs (collected by winning choreographer Sherrie Silver), Rih, fresh off a weekend wedding in her native Barbados, posted an adorably carefree video of herself, hair in braids, twirling to Gambino’s “Summertime” in a Havana square while wearing a gauzy sundress, sneakers and straw hat.

While it may just be a teaser for the new film (the star did take time to pose for the ‘gram with a few fans), it was also a poignant reminder that Labor Day is rapidly approaching, and we’ve yet to even get a solid base tan going—which means we’ve been doing sundress season all wrong. Leave it to Rihanna to remind us that too much work, work, work, work, work, work and no play will make for a very dull summer.
