Russell Simmons is speaking out in an attempt to clear up a few things put out recently by his ex-wife Kimora Lee Simmons. And he’s making some pretty interesting claims by doing so.

For context, things all popped off over the weekend after Kimora sat down with PEOPLE and disclosed that she was the “primary parent” for all her kids and that she doesn’t have a relationship really with any of their fathers.
“Usually I would say that I co-parent okay, but the kids are with me full-time. I’m pretty much the primary parent. It’s difficult, but I don’t know sometimes what other people are thinking. Guys are weird,” she explained.
She later added: “I am thankful I’m able to be there for my family in ways that other people or parents are not. If I wasn’t this person, I don’t know if we would’ve made it or if we would be okay. It’s been very important to me to be strong and self-reliant, and to constantly be growing.”
Kimora and Russell are parents to 25-year-old Ming Lee and 23-year-old Aoki Lee.
But now, the hip-hop mogul is clapping back and shining a different light on the parenting dynamic with Kimora. He’s also making some shocking claims against her, accusing her threatening to sue him over their children and more.
In a post to Threads over the weekend sharing a screenshot of her interview, Russel wrote: “I gave u 50,000 a month for 20 years. I was ur best /only friend. I’m the godfather to your other 3 kids, until one day you stole my stock. I have been fighting for my kids love and my bread ever since. You threatened that if I sued you, I would never speak to my kids again. There are two sides to every story.”
However, if Russell was looking for people to have his back with this post, he was sorely mistaken given the swift backlash that ensued after he said what he said.
“You typed best/only friend but you meant to type that you groomed her into isolation at 16 years old and throughout y’all’s ‘relationship’. Fixed it for ya!” one person responded on Threads.
“…I thought sex offenders weren’t supposed to have internet access?” another user questioned.
Added another user: “1. You picked her when she was barely an adult 2. 50k was a drop in the bucket for you and you had TWO children by her. Thats the least you could’ve done. 3. This was the aesthetic/preference you wanted and got. Whatever comes with that, just comes with that. 4. Why you still in Bali? Come on back and face the charges , homie”
Simmons has lived in Bali since 2018, though he’s insists it has nothing to do with the sexual assault allegations he’s faced or the current defamation suit pending from Drew Dixon. He’s made random appearances in New York and California since then, with his most recent appearance in Atlantic City, N.J. this past August.
