Well, maybe itโ€™s because the act that the National Football League and CBS really wanted turned them down.

A source told US Weekly โ€œThe NFL and CBS really wanted Rihanna to be next yearโ€™s performer in Atlanta. They offered it to her, but she said no because of the kneeling controversy. She doesnโ€™t agree with the NFLโ€™s stance.โ€

This, of course, refers to the silent, kneeling protest former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick began doing during the 2016 football season. Kaepernick demonstrated in protest of injustice, racial inequality and the extrajudicial killing of black people by the police. Those protests led to Kaepernick being blackballed in the league (although the NFL denies this).

Rihanna reportedly stands with Kap and turned down the offer to headline the Super Bowl halftime show because she supports him.

Once Rihanna turned down the job, it was then given to Maroon 5.

There are rumors that Cardi B may join the group for the halftime performance, but that has not been confirmed.

In the meantime, letโ€™s give it up for Rihanna. She obviously believes that much like in a game of dominoes, all money ainโ€™t good money.

This is why we kneel.
