At the top of October, Sean “Diddy” Combs finally learned his legal fate when it came to his federal sex trafficking trial. But now, an unlikely (or not) ally —President Donald Trump — just might alter the course of his consequences all together.

Or at least…that’s the word going around right now thanks to a new report from TMZ.
As we previously told you, on Oct. 3, Diddy was officially sentenced to 50 months in prison in relation to his convictions on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. He was also ordered to pay a $500,000 fine and would be subjected to five years of supervised release.
The Bad Boy Records’ founder has been held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York, since his September 2024 arrest. But this long prison sentence was clearly the last thing he or his legal defense team expected as the music mogul had allegedly already booked speaking engagements in Miami for the week after his sentencing as he was under the assumption he’d be walking away a free man.
Though Diddy didn’t get exactly what he was expecting earlier this month, things may be turning around for him soon. Per a White House source who recently spoke to TMZ on Monday, Trump is allegedly “vacillating” on a possible commutation for the “I’ll Be Missing You” rapper — but he’s getting some pushback from other officials internally.
For what it’s worth, Trump does seem to be in a commuting mood as he just commuted the federal sentence of disgraced former Republican congressman George Santos less than a week ago. He previously plead guilty to charges of wire fraud and aggravated identity theft and was sentenced to 87 months in prison.
Given Trump’s apparent “generosity,” it’s plausible that Diddy would be up next despite the fact that the president has been vague about getting involved or if he’d even been paying that much attention to his case in the first place. Trump previously said that he would be willing to “look at the facts” of Diddy’s case ,so there may be a chance that Diddy could very well be home before Christmas.
However, in a new report from US Weekly on Tuesday, another White House source denied that Trump was looking into commuting the music producer’s sentence, noting that there was “no truth” to the report and that the president will ultimately make the final decision. So we’ll have to wait and see what Trump does, if anything!
