Imagine appearing on national television in the a.m., then appearing behind bars in the p.m. Wow.

Such is the case for Robert “R.” Kelly, who has been arrested and taken into custody in relation to unpaid child support to ex-wife Andrea Kelly and the children the two share together, the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Though Kelly is out on bond in his aggravated sexual assault case, he’s heading back to the clink.

Kelly’s criminal defense lawyer Steve Greenberg has said his client’s financial situation is a “mess.” If you remember correctly, Kelly is only currently out on bond thanks to restaurant owner Valencia Love’s donation.

“Mr. Kelly has more than 20 people on his staff who, needless to say, are being paid,” said Andrea Kelly’s manager, David France. “He is not without means. Not until he was arrested did he say he didn’t have any money.”

Kelly reportedly owes $161,663 in back child support, which constitutes a felony under Illinois law. He had until 10 a.m. Wednesday morning to pay up, per a judge’s order.

Cook County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Sophia Ansari confirmed the R&B singer was taken into custody following a hearing and will be transferred to the county jail.
