Rep. Jasmine Crockett Has Words For Nicki Minaj — and It’s Not Pretty

Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett isn’t mincing words when it comes down to rapper Nicki Minaj, whose recent allegiance with MAGA caught us all off guard. TMZ caught up with the Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate this week, who was very clear about her feelings for the “Starships” rapper. “We don’t mess with Nicki,” the congresswoman began.

We previously told you Nicki’s fall from grace centers around her close proximity to President Donald Trump, who Rep. Crockett has long had beef with. The Democrat told TMZ she used to be a fan of the New York City rapper, but now times have definitely changed.

“I just don’t do sellouts, especially in this moment,” Crockett continued. “Things are too serious. There are too many people that are being harmed.” The Democrat also made it a point to mention that she’s always loved Cardi B more than Nicki. “Clearly, my instincts were right,” she added.

Nicki’s anti-transgender and far-right alliances have isolated her from much of her own fan base — made up of largely Black and LGBTQ+ people. Still, Nicki has said time and time again that she doesn’t mind the backlash or hate she receives for supporting President Trump. In fact, she told a room full of conservatives that the criticism only makes her love for Trump grow faster, we told you.

It’s this unapologetic loyalty to Trump that prompted the president to gift her a Trump Gold Card — his immigration card fast tracking citizenship for folks willing to shell out $1 million and then some. But given the administration’s ongoing mass deportation effort and targeting of immigrant communities across the country, Rep. Crockett said she expected more from the Queen of Rap who was came to the U.S. illegal when she was a child.

“Especially with her being an immigrant, then deciding to go and cozy up to this administration that is specifically putting targets on the backs of immigrants and anyone who stands with them,” Crockett told TMZ. “That is wrong, and I don’t even understand how you can play with it and pretend like it’s anything but wrong.”

The question on everyone’s mind has been “why?” Why has Nicki made such an extreme 180-turn towards MAGA? According to the congresswoman, it could have something to do with her husband and brother’s current legal issues. Regardless of Nicki’s reasons, Crockett emphasized how “wrong” she is.

“She’s just on the wrong side of history,” Crockett said. “So I hope that people remember all of this when she comes back, and she’s broke and she’s begging for money and support because something tells me MAGA ain’t going to do it for her.”

The representative urged folks to pay attention to who they’re spending their money with. In the case of folks like the “Queen” rapper, her fans are the reason for her success, which means they can also dictate her downfall.

“I think that there are people who can divorce the art [from the artist]. For me, it is more-so about your dollars,” Crockett continued. “Are you going to support with your dollars? It’s the dollars that have given her the platform in the first place otherwise Donald Trump wouldn’t even know who she was.”
