Rep. Jasmine Crockett Gets Emotional After Calling Out Republicans Treatment of Renee Good

Rep. Jasmine Crockett called out Republicans who were quick to label Renee Good as a “domestic terrorist.”

Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett offered a tearful response to the horrific killing of Renee Nicole Good in Minnesota this Wednesday (Dec. 7). News of the ICE-involved shooting reached all the way to the U.S. House Committee by the next day, and while politicians were quick to speed past the tragedy, Crockett insisted the committee address the elephant in the room.

“It is so hard to sit here sometimes because I didn’t

Her words came as Republicans– including President Donald Trump– were quick to defend ICE agent Jonathan Ross killing Good as “self defense.” Meanwhile, Democrats like Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey and Crockett condemned ICE and the chaos caused by the U.S. citizen’s death, we told you.

“The fact that a woman was killed, she was shot in her head, and y’all are pretending like nothing happened,” Crockett added before getting emotional. The shocking death of the 37-year-old mother was captured on several bystander videos. Despite a New York Times analysis and other experts’ account of the tragic events, Trump and Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem were quick to label Good a “domestic terrorist.”

Crockett pointed out the hypocrisy from the Republican party, especially given the September assassination of far-right podcaster Charlie Kirk, which triggered major outrage from Trump’s camp, The Root reported.

“I remember when Charlie Kirk got killed… Do you remember what our response was,” the congresswoman asked the rest of the committee. “Our response wasn’t to sit there and pretend like it was OK.” Crockett suggested Republicans were hypocritically taking the ICE agent’s side simply because he has a badge. Meanwhile, all justice and humanity for Good has been virtually ignored, the Texan declared.

“The last time I checked, allegedly, no one is above the law,” she added. “Can y’all not just have a little bit of courage and humanity? I am asking if there is anyone that will stand for the very people that elected us and sent us to Congress.”

Despite Crockett’s teary testimony on the House floor, the markup meeting was originally set to address bail reform legislation. During her time, Crockett referenced Mayor Frey’s message for ICE to “get the f**k out” the city,” which triggered vocal objections from Republicans over the use of profanity during the hearing.

Still, Crockett focused on how Agent Ross killing Good will likely spark demonstrations in America. “There are gonna be protests around this entire country because of the state-sanctioned execution that we all saw unfold unless there is some kind of justice that takes place,” she said.

After the shooting, Minn. Gov. Tim Walz declared state National Guard is preparing to deploy if prompted by Trump. “We’ve never been at war with our federal government,” he said while urging protesters to remain calm and peaceful.
