Through the sharing of these struggles and success stories, the video, which was produced by Reach Higher’s student-facing campaign, Better Make Room, in partnership with Fullscreen Media, aims to inspire and encourage young people, helping them to understand the natural obstacles and commitments required to achieve life goals—like applying to, attending and completing college or a training program.
“We started Reach Higher because we want every student, no matter their background, to know that higher education is worth it – they are worth it,” said Eric Waldo, Reach Higher’s executive director. “All of the hard work that goes into applying to and completing college will lead to a better future for themselves, their families, and their communities.”
Founded by the former First Lady during her years in the White House, Reach Higher is a movement and online community which, according to its website, was created to inspire every student in the U.S. to pursue and complete education past high school by:
Exposing students to college and career opportunities
Understanding financial aid eligibility that can make college affordability a reality
Encouraging academic planning and summer learning opportunities
Supporting high school counselors who can help more kids get into college
