Ray J and Dr. Umar Johnson Are Beefing … Over a Woman

If you didn’t have Ray J and activist Dr. Umar Johnson beefing on your 2025 BINGO card, you’re not alone! Let’s get into this surprising news.

In news that can only be described as “IKYFL,” Ray J is back making waves. But this time around, an unlikely person — namely Dr. Umar Johnson — is getting roped into the foolishness. Let’s get into it.

As you well know by now, Dr. Umar is the king of the hoteps a popular figure amongst Black folks, thanks in large part to his extremely pro-Black and pro-African viewpoints, which he often espouses quite passionately and in a very unintentionally hilarious way. Ray J, meanwhile, is pretty similar. Not in the sense that he’s overtly pro-Black, but in that he, too, is almost always passionate about whatever opinion he has at the time, and it is often seen as entertaining to the masses.

Seeing as how the two men are received similarly but operate in different lanes, you would think there’d be no bad blood between them. Well, that’s apparently not the case as Ray J revealed in an all-new interview. Specifically, during his appearance on “The Breakfast Club” on Wednesday, the “Last Wish” singer shared that he and Umar recently exchanged some negative words — and it all has to do with a woman. But it’s not just any woman, it’s rapper Sukihana.

“Me and Dr. Umar had an argument. He know that — he like Suki. But Suki’s with me. So he can’t like Suki, so he tried to press me and I said ‘Dr. Umar, don’t do that. Because you big, but you not big. You not that big, I’ll take you on,’” Ray J said.

He later said he was “always with Suki” and told her boyfriend to “stand down” and never put his hands on her again. He also confirmed a previous internet rumor that he was shelling out $75,000 a month for Suki. To make matters worse, Ray J’s current girlfriend Sheila was sitting behind him, visibly uncomfortable, and expressed that she didn’t expect to hear him say what he said.

Now, if you know anything about Sukihana, her music and the messages in her songs, then you might think that her being entangled with Ray J or Dr. Umar in any way would be a bit puzzling. But apparently, there’s some synergy happening between the three of them. As you might expect, when folks online got wind of it, they had plenty to say.

Thankfully, though, most people felt Ray J was being his usual, trolling, over-the-top self.

“It’s like I feel like I’m watching a parody but the problem is they’re deadass serious,” one user wrote on X/Twitter.

“I feel like Ray J is the most nuttiest Black person to exist…because this can’t be drugs man..he’s a silly ass dude,” another said.

“And nothing makes more sense than Ray J and Suki,” an additional person added.

TikTok users had more to say, with one person asking, “Dr Umar wants Sukihana? This timeline is at least entertaining.”

Another user noted, “He knows how to go viral. He is intentional.”

Over on Instagram, it was more of the same. “Ray J is becoming the clown I never knew I needed,” one person said in the comments section of Dr. Umar’s repost of Ray J’s interview.

But sadly, a repost is all we’re gonna get from the “good doctor” as he’s opted not to publicly entertain or respond to the “One Wish” singer. But if he does, we’ll be sure to circle back to this conversation.
